    Where do you fit in?

I'm a US Marine Corps veteren, in from 2003 until 2013. Did 4 deployments, 2 cruises on the USS Nimitz ('05, and '07) Iraq in '09, and Japan in '11. I was an F-18 avionics tech.

If you're out, do you miss it?
    What do you do now?

Now I'm an aircraft engineer and welder for the Navy.

My husband is an active duty Chief in the Navy and is currently on deployment number 7. Only 5 more years until retirement but he'll probably try and stay in a little longer if he can. We had a friend that was stationed on the Nimitz during that same period you were there but he was Navy and we were almost stationed in Japan in 2011, but my husband ended up getting different orders.

    Army Aviator (vet) checking in!

Go put some clothes on sir, this is not proper conduct for an officer.

hush, let the man take a selfie!

Fly boys were always show offs. Don't make me rip this shirt off and flaunt it.

I was a medic with the National Guard. OIF vet. I've been out almost a year. And, yes, I miss it!

I was in the Canadian Armed Forces (reserves) very young. I was silly and chose an occupation that I didn't really like but I had a good time for the few years I was in. I think sometimes now that I'm older I should just give up my IT bank job and join the Reg Force in an IT related position again but w/ kids it's not an easy decision to make.

LOL! I sleep with one almost every night when he's not on duty (firefighter), hubby is a former Marine.

USAF Intelligence 10 years. Assigned to Southern Italy, South Korean and NSA. Married an Intelligence Group sailor and "never saw him again"!

I was debating with SOME military intelligence folks on social media this week. They repeatedly called me stupid, mocked my references, wouldn't answer my questions, wouldn't provide references for their opinions, and projected their opinions on me. I was saddened to see that level of "none so blind as they who cannot see" in the intelligence community. However it validated that I made the right decision to leave years ago.

It's one thing to work with uneduacatable civilians. Uneducatable military gets people killed.

Retired Air Force~! I couldn't decide what I wanted to be when I grew up so I started out in POL (refueling aircraft), spent some time with the OSI, then became a Medic. Two special duties as a Military Training Leader, then became a First Sergeant and retired at 25 years.

I'm a Brit, 17 years regular service Royal Navy as a combat engineer, now seven years Volunteer Reserve as a Warfare Officer.

Several deployments, including the Balkans, Persian Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan, West Africa - Lots of time shoreside, which is a lot of fun.

    Retired Canadian Navy (08 - 12), and Canadian Army (07 - 08)

Was a Combat Engineer in the Army, and a Hull Tech in the Navy posted to HMCS Regina in Victoria, BC, and HMCS St. Johns in Halifax, NS.

Was a great time. I miss it at times, but I left to be closer to my daughter and to not have to spend every birthday and Christmas away from her and my girlfriend.

I now work as a Group Home Counselor with Western Health (PMO) (specializing with violent individuals that hospitals will not take.) I love it!

I was an Army Medic from 91-97. My career was not nearly as exciting as yours. I spent most of my time at Fort Drum, NY. Anybody who knows where that is knows that I don't miss it.

I work for the Army now as a Military Analyst, have been for 4 years.

 I love this!!!!! My nephew is currently serving in the Army and is stationed in Fort Drum. He hates it!!! We're from NC so the weather is totally different. I check the weather up there every day and giggle just a little bit. My son is serving in the Navy. He's in Rhode Island right now for Supply School. He's not real fond of the cold either. I keep telling both of them it helps build character! Lol. But I just want to say thank you to all the men and women out there serving and to those who have served! And also to their families! It's not easy being on the other side missing & worrying about your loved ones either.

Air Forces Security Forces officer from June of 2006 until they kick me out (some days it seems more imminent than others).

Currently in my fourth duty station (not including TDYs).

I kept getting orders TO the desert, but Uncle Sam kept changing his mind on me. Deployment orders #1 changed the location from Baghdad to Qatar, Deployment orders #2 to Tikrit saw me get pulled completely off my team the day we got back from pre-deployment training, and Deployment orders #3 were canx'ed thanks to my whole run-in with the after-effects of cancer treatments. I keep trying to toss my hat in the ring and they keep throwing it back.

By and large, while the job has it's own flavor of s*ck, I've been able to meet some really good folks along the way.

21 years in and still serving. Working at a University teaching ROTC right now after spending the last 10 years in 75th Ranger Regiment. Before that I spent 7 years at Fort Drum with a tour in Hawaii in the middle and a few years as a Drill Instructor. Looking forward to retiring within the next couple years.
