I've lost 55 pounds since October 1st. I've done it by cutting all the junk out of my diet. I eat mostly chicken breasts, oatmeal, tuna, eggs with tomatoes and green peppers, lean ham and lean turkey. And I take protein shakes.

I also walk 4 miles a day on most days and 8 miles on some days. I do strength exercises 2 days a week trying to keep my muscles toned and retain as much as I can while I lose weight.

I was 274 on Feb 1st last year. I had lost 35 pounds by October, when I met a guy who taught me how to eat right, and now I am 184 pounds.

    Good luck!

The rate at which you lose weight depends on a number of factors. A big factor is how overweight you are to begin with. It took me 12 months to lose 50 pounds.

What happens if you don't lose 50 pounds in 6 months? In my experience bodies don't respond too well to deadlines.
  • Unless there is a medical reason, don't stress yourself by trying to lose 50lbs in six months. Even if it doable, don't put yourself under unnecessary stress, especially if you are new to weight loss. The body doesn't respond well to stress and inhabits weight loss. If you are seriously about losing weight then take a deep breath and start off slow and build steady healthy habits one at a time. This way you will increase your chances of success. I am not stating that you can't lose 50 lbs. in six months. My point is if you stress and rush yourself, you may very well achieve the goal but will you maintain it? The main point and focus is to build healthy habits that you can keep for the rest of your life.

Depends on a lot of factors such as starting weight. If you want to lose your first 50lbs in 6 months and have a lot to lose, then it may be possible. However if you 'only' have 50lbs to lose then realise your weight lose will slow and it will probably take you longer. I 'only' had 50lbs so it took about 9-10months. The results are worth the time though :)

('only' is in quotation marks cause honestly I am dam proud of losing that amount and it seemed like a lot while I was doing it! lol).
