For those that lost 80+ lbs....

I lost my first 10 pounds 2 months ago, but gave up and started eating my bad ways again (some how I didn't gain back all the weight..lucky me! haha) Now in March, I have lost around 10 lbs in 10 days and I am not starving myself. I have eaten smaller meals more frequently and cut out 'crap' (junk food) and focus on more fruits and veggies by adding juicing (If you haven't seen "Fat,Sick and Nearly Dead" you need to!!!) as well as working out 3-5X a week
I am wondering how long it took you to lose the weight? And if you lost it as quickly as I am. My step dad has also started juicing and eating less crap and has lost 55 lbs in 2 months so it could be the juicing possibly flushing all the crap out of our bodies.
If this is normal, is it a faze? Will I start slowing down? Or will I get to my goal weight as quickly as it seems?

I have lost 81 lbs since sept 24th 2013. if that helps. but I eat mostly shakes and a lot of running.0

Were you losing it as quickly as I am? I want to lose 80 pounds in TOTAL,did you? Or do you need to lose more? because I figure it would be easier if that isn't your goal weight0

I stated august of 2013....last week I hit 100 pounds....I believe I was at 80 pounds around mid January.0

It took me around 18 months to lose around 140 pounds.0

You adjusted what you were eating and likely dropped a good amount of water weight (again). That makes ten pounds in ten days doable. I think I dropped fifteen in the first month.
I dropped 89 pounds in about a year. It definitely slowed down after the first couple of months, but the more I learned, the less interested I was in "dropping quickly" anyway. It wouldn't be good for you, even if you could do it.0 -

I presume what you lost is a lot of water weight. I lost an average of 4 lbs a week then after 50lbs lost i started losing 2 lbs a week.
I'm not sure what you mean by goal weight, but I'm trying to lose 100lbs. it will take a lot of work and clean eating to reach that goal. no magic just hard work.

1. I don't need to watch Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. I don't let propaganda run my life.
2. It's taken me about 1.5 years to lose what I have. I don't mind losing it slowly. It's given me time to work through the mental aspects and deal with the emotional issues I had. It's also let my skin rebound better than if I lost more quickly.
3. A lot of that 10 pounds was water weight. If that rate of loss continues, you need to be eating more.0 -
If you read correctly, you'd know that I juice to add fruits and veggies to my diet however I do not ONLY juice. I have lowered my caloric intake by two thirds and have began working out.0

Just realized how vague my post was. My apologies. Well, I exercise 3-5X a week and eat 5 meals a day (2 are juice) I'm not trying to be extreme, I am trying to make a lifestyle change0

It took me one year and a half to lose 70 pounds, I've maintained almost ten years. I lost 30 pounds in the first 2 months, 20 pounds in the following two months, and the next 30 over the course of a year. I am a huge proponent of switching eating habits to focus on nutrition and health and having vegetables make up a very large portion of your diet but I think juicing is nonsense. It doesn't teach healthy habits, it is not sustainable, it spikes blood sugar. Not good. Any strict diet will cause a significantly overweight person to lose the first pounds quickly. It's what happens after that you need to think about. Kudos to you for taking the first steps toward weight loss, I recommend you now work toward committing to a lifestyle you can commit to for the rest of your life. I've always been skeptical of juicing because by doing so, you're just left with the sugar and some vitamins from the fruit & veg. One of the big reasons veg & fruit are so good for our guts and our health in general is all the fiber content. Why not eat whole fruit and veg instead?0

Because I could not consume all the fruits and veggies I'd like to. I still eat meals: 80% veg/fruit 15%protein 5%carb (usually stick to that ratio) However I get full, so instead of eating 4 carrots,3 stalks of celery, 2 apples, a head of lettuce and half a pineapple... I would rather drink them. (again, I still eat fruits and veg as well as eggs etc)0

It took me 2.5 years to lose 80+ pounds. Losing weight wasn't my main focus, making a lasting change was the goal. The weight loss was just a side effect.0

640 days to lose 130 lbs, eating real food (i.e not juicing, no protein shakes...not drinking my calories). I cut my calories, stopped eating due to boredom, weigh/measure/log everything, and exercise daily....I thought slow & steady would be the safest way and give the body a chance to adjust /firm/tone up. Had too many friends lose weight too fast and had gallbladder issues and then they couldn't maintain what they lost.
Now the fun starts for me, trying to maintain the loss.
Everyone's rate of loss is different, for me it was quicker when I had the most to lose, then it slowed down.0 -
Stick with it, don't give up. You've gotten sidetracked which does happen time to time. Since Oct. of 2012 I've lost 125 lbs. by changing my lifestyle which includes, eating healthier, exercise and not giving up! I have about 25-30 lbs to go to goal weight. However, my goal is to get off my prescription medications, not really to hit a number. Some of my meds have been stopped and some reduced which I'm very proud of! It's a battle everyday for me. We used to eat a lot of fast food and also go out to restaurants a lot. We cook at home now, it's healthier. We will go out to celebrate an occasion such as a birthday, anniversary, etc. You have to make some allowances, do not deny yourself a treat now and then. When you deny yourself completely of something for a long time that's when you fall off course and have a binge. Well, that's what I did anyway. No longer, I'm in control of my habits and the choices that I make. Going to the gym 4-5 days a week has become a habit. We eat a lot of fresh fish, chicken, ground turkey and allow ourselves red meat once a week. Sometimes we don't even realize it and go longer without red meat. Eating lots of fresh fruits, veggies, whole grains and watch those carbs. Some carbs are good but not too many... Also, drink water, water and more water. Always have water with you. I drink anywhere from 80-100 ounces of water a day. It's so good for your body. Hang in there, don't give up!0

I know your pain. I Let myself get to 268#'s!!
I had to find a why. My then 7 year old asked me if I was always going to be fat? My Dr. told me that I was going to have a heart attack with in a year if I didn't change things.
When I started I could only do 5 minutes on a reliminate bike for about 2 -3 weeks then added the treadmill for .25 miles in 30 minutes. Then I started to add weight lifting and increased my miles with in 30m. I would spend 1 to1 1/2 hours, doing 2 -2.5 miles at different inclines. After dinner my 8 year old daughter and I would walk for 30 minutes. On weekends we would walk 3 miles then climb the bleachers using the stairs part 3x's
The food part was the hardest at first. I did a lot of research to lean how to eat healthy. I wanted a life style change not a quick fix. I've been there and it all came back. I want it last for ever this time.
It has been 16months and 102#'s later. I am so health and feel awesome. I have 20 more to go.0 -

I'm at 78 lbs lost since December 2012. I've never eaten under 1600, more often around 1700. It will take longer if your goal is to only lose 80 lbs, compared to people who have 90 or more to lose. I'm 6 lbs from my goal now (although it's not a very aggressive goal and I could probably lose 11 more, but I can't tell because my stomach is covered in loose skin).
I lift weights 3x a week and walk 3 miles a day on average (it's been pretty much that way for 6 months).0 -
My post I made yesterday on March 19th says I joined in Jan 2012? I did originally when I tried Weight Watchers, that lasted about a month. Anyway, my lifestyle changes started in October 2012 and I didn't pick back up on the app until January of 2014 when it was suggested to me by my personal trainer. I started using Fitbit app and my fitness pal app. Love it! Glad I did, it makes me feel more accountable.0
