Any advice welcome!

Hi everyone,

I have been a member of mfp for 2 years now but this is the first message I have posted. When I first joined I managed to lose 15lbs just by calorie counting and with little exercise. Over the course of about 18 months I put almost all of it back on. Now I am trying to lose those 15lbs again, but the scale will not budge! Mfp has given me a target of 1340cal per day, I weigh EVERYTHING I consume, drink over 2l of water per day, run between 2.5 and 4.5 miles about 3-4 times per week, and also have an hour with a personal trainer once per week, mostly doing strength training which I love. I tend to eat back around half of my exercise calories. I have been very strict with myself going like this for the last 2 weeks, which I know isn't a huge amount of time, but I am hoping to lose about 10lbs in time for a wedding I am going to at the end of May, hence trying to get some advice now!

I am a 19 year old female weighing 156lbs, and am 5ft5. My Goal is ultimately to just be fit, healthy, and happy in my own skin. I would imagine that about 140lb would be a good weight for me, I got down to 142 when I lost with mfp last time.

Any advice to help with my weightloss would be hugely appreciated!

:)

It sounds like you are on the right track, but with you being so close to your goal, your loss is going to be pretty darn slow. :( Is there any particular reason why you chose the 10 lb loss as your goal? Or are you just trying to look a little more toned/ fit in your dress? If it's one particular area that bugging you, maybe your trainer could help with some suggestions? And maybe upping your strength training to 2-4x a week, even if you cant have your trainer on the other days.

You have a good plan so stick with it! Some people see the big first week loss, I never do, it always takes about 2 weeks for me to see any results. Also, you said you have been doing this about 2 week, if you started and/or increased your workout routine at the same time your muscles might be holding onto some water. Thats pretty typical when they are adjusting to "new stress", so you would proabaly have a drop in weight coming your way over the next few days.

You may or may not reach your gaol weight by the end of may, but with the workout routine you are doing I think you will visually see differences in your body and feel much better. Stick with it and try not to get frustrated.

This is not true. If you continue to hit the same calorie deficit as you have always set, you will continue to lose the weight at the same rate.

Thank you so much everybody! I have always been 'obsessed' by the scale, which i know is super unhealthy but i do find it difficult not to be put off when the numbers don't budge! I will keep going as I am, and maybe try upping my strength training. Thanks :)

I chose 10lbs because the wedding I am going to is 9 weeks away, and instead of hoping to lose all the 15lbs by then i though a pound a week loss was more realistic..I do want to look more toned as well, I have such a jelly belly! I will speak to my trainer..thank you :)
