Any former EDers?

I'm in the process of overcoming bulimia. Looking for inspiration and tips on how to not be triggered. I can sit here all day long and tell myself how bad it is for me, but when I get stressed, it's an easy release.

I don't mean to be extra philosophical, but the answer to this question lies in you, alone. You have to want to be healthy more than you want to give in to stress and relapse. Unfortunately the hardest tasks we face are the ones we must face alone.

The easiest thing for me is to avoid things that I know trigger me. It's not easy, and some days are harder than others. If you haven't joined a support group, or talked to a professional, I'd recommend that also. It helps to have people that know what you're going through. Good luck.

It can help to keep a food diary. Not a MFP diary, per se, but write down in a journal what you eat for each meal or snack, and then write how you felt about that meal, what else was going on when you ate, etc, and then write again an hour or two later about it. You can identify and track triggers that way, which helps you figure out how to avoid them.

Go to Community Board, click Groups, search Bulimia. Pick one or more groups to join. Hope you find the support you need there! :flowerforyou:
  • When I used to struggle with that I would think about my family. I know that you may gain some sort of release but you're ultimately harming your body which in the long run effects all the people you love not just you. I prayed alot too.
