Sometimes I don't eat dinner until around 7 or 8? Is it okay to eat at these times if I have a calorie deficit? Someone said that eating past 8 o'clock will make you gain weight!

You lose weight by eating at a deficit. Eat whenever you want.

Meal timing and frequency have little to nothing to do with weight loss. All you need is your calorie deficit. Maintain that and you will lose weight, regardless of when you eat. Eat when you're hungry/convenient for you. Good luck!0

No worries. I usually raid the fridge at midnight or whenever I am hungry and still losing weight
Just remember to log in everything you eat (and under calories deficit of course) and you should be fine XDD0
