sabotage brunch!

So I went to a brunch buffet today and stuffed my stupid face! Like 2100 cal estimate stuffed! I'm planning on burning some cals at the gym, and having nothing else today but protein powder and water to get my protein up.
Look at my diary please.
This is a cheat day for me for sure, but what I'm curious about is if this kind of thing could really sabotage my progress. What do you all think about cheat days or cheat meals, and can burning those calories at the gym really put a day back into balance?
It was really, really tasty! (and i feel guilty!)

Don't feel guilty! It looks like you were consistently under the rest if the week. I like to keep my weekly average below my goal, it allows me to save up calories for a special occassion. Don't starve yourself today. Work out and have a lower than normal calorie dinner.0

do you always eat bacon in that amount? Kind of caught my attention.0

Never! But they were all kind of stuck and twisted together! Could have been ten slices not twelve, I'm not sure.im about to go kick my butt at the gym, but I'm wondering if working out will really negate what i did to myself this morning!0

I ate that much on vacation for my breakfast too...no guilt I mean it's bacon right.
Go to the gym work some of it off but remember one day will not kill your entire week or month...
Eat some real food if you want later and just go forward...0 -
You lifting weights and cardio? If you walked for an hour you could burn 200 calories, or ran more. If i ate as much protien as you have so far today I probably wouldnt even feel hungry later in the day.0

One brunch is definitely not going to sabotage you. One delicious...delicious...brunch. Bacon.0

Haha I could eat bacon like that. It won't hurt you to have a day like that every once in a while0

I wouldn't weigh myself tomorrow, just because the sodium will likely cause a water weight gain, but this has not upset your progress at all in terms of losing fat. Looks like it was delicious and probably worth having on occasion!0

It really is calories in --> calories out. You're still under your calorie and carb limit for the day. Sure, you're over on sodium and fat, but I wouldn't worry about one meal like this. Drink some extra water today and tomorrow. Maybe add in a spinach salad for dinner... some kind of a green veg.
Really, stressing yourself out over this is more harmful to you than the actual meal.0 -
Thanks folks. Ok, I will not step on the scale tomorrow or worry too much about this. Back on track tomorrow! It was totally worth it at the time!0

Log it and move on.
As long as you're not doing it every day, don't beat yourself up over it. I had to travel for three days this week, I knew I'd go over my calories and decided I'd just eat what I ate, log as accurately and honestly as possible and accept it. I won't gain weight because of what I ate because even with going over my calories I'm still at a deficit and only am only a couple hundred calories over my weekly goal, I just won't lose as much this week. It won't derail me because I am not guilting myself and saying "Well, I screwed up, what's the point might as well go for broke."
Accept that you aren't perfect and that your success isn't wrapped up in one day over-eating delicious, delicious bacon. Tomorrow is another day. If it makes you feel better to go for an extra run or hit the gym a little harder, then by all means do it. Eat light the rest of the day. Shoot for fewer calories tomorrow and even the next day if you are really worried. I look at a weekly average for my calories and it helps me feel less stressed when I do go over. I agree that you shouldn't jump on the scale tomorrow because you might be discouraged, all that sodium will result in some water retention and skew your numbers.0 -
Starving yourself for one day won't make you skinny, and binging for one day won't make you fat. Simple as that so long as it's once in a blue moon, I wouldn't worry. Just stay on track and really stick to your budget for the rest of the week.0

Feeling guilt about eating could definitely sabotage your progress.0

I'd just not have dinner or something. You probably won't be hungry anyway. It's when it happens in the evening that it sucks (I had a 3200 calories meal last week).0

The main thing is to not step on the scale for a few days...the sodium is killer..then you can access the damage which honestly will probably be minimal at most. I have been known to have a cheat meal at a chinese buffet...I just try to load up on the protein and veggies and pass up the noodles and rice..but as we all know with chinese buffets..unless it is steamed it is not exactly clean...LOL..no worries!0
