FELL OF THE WAGON :(

Options
So i have a confession...... I broke my month long streak of no soda and no fast food today.( A taco bell steak supreme chalupa and a Dr. Pepper, awful i know) I know that it isnt going to kill my weight loss for this one slip up but it still makes me feel gross.

On a more positive note though I have met my goal of losing all the pregnancy weight that gained from my now 1 year old ( a whopping 37Lbs) But I am hoping to loose at least 15 more.

So here is my question. what are some things that you guys do when you fall off the wagon? What tricks that you have to stay on track, healthy treats to curve cravings or proper cheat day etiquette i guess. Any input will help

Just enjoy the awesome meal you had, realize you might had gone too far, and get right back on track. When I find myself slipping, I try to take a step back and reassess why I'm working hard on my health. I remind myself that I'll have bad days.

Many times, I find healthier versions of something I'm craving. Recently it's been chocolate, so I bought some Fiber One chocolate chip brownies.... sooo good and only 90 calories!

I'm in this position right now. I'm pretty disciplined usually but have somewhat fallen off the wagon and I know it will impede me fulfilling my health and fitness goals. I don't need motivation as such, more that I need the willpower to stick to my plan and not let well meaning friends and family lead me astray. For me that means pretty much not socialising or eating out or worrying about offending people who urge me to have another wine or some dessert and that is my new goal along with excersising in one form or another every single day.

in all honesty this is not really falling off the wagon …

You had fast food once in a month? Big deal ..

actually you could eat taco bell once a day, maintain a deficit, and still lose weight ….

Well, then yes, that streak ended. Just move past it. It's over with now. Just go back to not having those things. Dwelling on it won't help. It'll just make it harder.

Please don't beat yourself up! Weightloss is a journey and you will have days in the valley and days that you hit the mountain top! Take it one day at a time and you will be fine~

I don't think of eating more on a particular day as "falling off the wagon" anymore. I see it as a day where I decide to not lose - kind of like hitting the pause button for the day.

I think it is unrealistic to expect to eat "perfectly" every single day for months at a time. Being more flexible helps me to stay motivated and eating healthy almost all of the time....with room for treats and higher calories days once in a while.

I think you're being too hard on yourself. Check out the day I had today and you'll feel better, I'm sure. :drinker:

The secret is to not remove or demonize foods that we love. Moderation is key and only having fast food over the past month proves that you have a handle on that. Congrats!

If you fall just get back up again. Be motivated by accomplishment. Eat green beans and kiwis

I fall off the wagon ALL THE TIME. I just dust myself off and get right back on. I try to be good 80% of the time. If you look at my diary today you can see that today was not a healthy day AT ALL. But I have a horrible period with severe hip pain and nausea....so I ate whatever I could reasonably tolerate and most of it wasn't good.

    Tomorrow is a new day.

Slawless - you're being too hard on yourself (something I know how to do all too well). As the others have mentioned, you haven't fallen off the wagon. You hit a pot hole - but you and the wagon are still headed toward your goal! You didn't cause irreparable harm to your body - you took a flyer. The regret you are showing is proof that your routine, and your health, matter. Forgive yourself and continue working towards that goal!! You've done a great job getting to where you are - Congratulations!! Let us know when you achieve your goal!!

Today I did some exercise and was quite prepared to ramp it up a bit more because I "thought" that actually I might like ice cream for my dessert at the pub. After thinking about it... I was thinking why do I feel the need to splurge & eat ice cream?! Then realised it was only because I knew I was expending more calories, so I didn't bother with either in the end. So for me, it's just about thinking what I'm doing and why and if I want to feel like I wrecked all my hard work and then have to exercise more to stay in the deficit! I'm kinda hard on myself when I fail.

For starters - did you log what you ate? I doubt that one meal put you over much - if at all. Secondly, stop talking about being "off the wagon". Accept that you will never be perfect and just keep moving ahead and working toward your goal.

Obsessing over every failed step is not productive. It breeds guilt and that's not a healthy emotion. Do you best every day - in reality, it's all any of us do.

Simply remember that tomorrow's a new day and a new start. I just let yesterday go and move forward.

I do not consider this falling of the wagon...I do this once a week! I cannot deprive myself of the crap I love...or I WILL fall off the wagon. I enjoy every minute of eating crappy things for me on my cheat day, but I still make sure to log it, and stay within my calorie intake. Enjoy it, and don't look at being human as a bad thing... ;) Yes, I know I shouldn't do this, and the health nuts are probably going to frown on this post...but I feel I have the best plan for me going, and am on track to lose the weight I want. Do what is best for you. Just don't take advantage of today, and keep doing it. Make it one day, not the next month! Good luck!
