Losing 5 pounds a week?

Is this possible? I want to lose 40 pounds by summer. How much calories should I burn and eat in order to do so. Thanks in advance!

    Should have started last summer. :wink: Sorry, not what you wanted to hear, and I'm not trying to be snarky, but it's true - losing 5 lbs a week isn't reasonable or healthy when you've only got 40 lbs to lose.

    Instead of trying to turbo-lose the pounds for summer, start now with reasonable, steady weight loss and develop the lifestyle of healthy eating and doing some exercise. You WILL look better by summer, and you'll continue to progress straight into fall and winter, and look even better by next summer.

    Set your loss goal at MFP to 1 lb week, then eat your calories, do some exercise, drink water, take rest days, get good sleep. Do it for life, not just for this summer or one event - this leads to losing some, and then crashing and gaining it back and then some, and eventually having to start over. Starting over sucks! :tongue:

    You would need 2500 Per day deficit. You are probably meant to have like 1000 a day, so even if you burnt 500, to even eat something you would need to exercise even more.
