Where should I put my calories?

I have my food diary set up by times 12am-4am, 4am-8am, 8am-noon, noon-4pm, 4pm-8pm, 8pm-12am.
Well, I had a not so food great day yesterday, and ended up eating at like 1am, went to bed around 3am, woke up around 11am. If I post it where it should go (on today's), that only leaves me 400 calories for the rest of my day.
/ I'm wondering if I should fudge it a little, and put it on 8pm-12am for yesterday since it was before I went to bed.
Or do you think they still do count for today, which means I should get through the rest of today and try to stay under 400 calories?

The calories go to yesterday since they were eaten before you went to bed and that's what defines a "day". People that work overnights do it differently, but that's what I do.
Just throw them in your 8 PM - 12 AM for yesterday and make note in your comments that you ate them at 1 AM.
Eat your normal amount of calories today, make sure you get in fruits/veggies (fiber!), protein and just a well balanced diet...live and learn and move on!0 -
I have asked myself this same question on days where I have had late nights. If it is after midnight it is a new day so I just have less to eat or work out more...Usually I will try to hit the gym.
Hope I helped!0 -
When it comes to food, a day is from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed, regardless of what the actual times may be. So if you ate a light night meal before you went to bed, log it with yesterday's food, not today's.0

I'm kind of thinking opposite of what others have said. If you have your food diary set up to cover certain times of the day, food you eat during those times should go under that category regardless of whether it was before you went to bed or not. Otherwise, why have your food diary set up like that.0

True. Might as well just set up six "meals". Instead of naming them times, name them meal 1, meal 2, etc. Then if you do not eat a meal you don't log it.0 -
My logic for the times was to track when I'm eating the most, point out if I'm midnight snacking a lot, etc. Hmm...so far seems like its leaning towards sucking it up and staying under the 400 the rest of the day. lol0
