Approaching weight goal, but now I dont know how to 'sculpt'

Hi,
I weighed 202 lbs a few months ago, down to 178, with a goal of 175. I'm 5'10, (not the tall and skinny type), so 175 is a pretty healthy weight I think. Although a good amount has come off my stomach, I have no definition at all. I've just been doing a ton of cardio, and if I keep doing that, I'll keep losing weight but I don't want to get to the point where I look sickly, ya know? What's a good approach to start getting definition in the abdominal area?

Congratulations on getting to you almost goal weight!!! I have read and been seeing posts on here that to tone up weight lifing is the way to go but I do not know how or where to get that in. I have no time to go to the gym so I do workout dvds at home currently I am doing the Jillian Micheal's Body Revolution hopefully that will help.

Good for you about approaching your goal weight. I've read a few places recently that planks, like from Yoga, are the best workout for abs. Better than crunches or situps. Here's a couple links.

The wikihow site is really good for showing you how to do it correctly.

I don't know if you go to a gym but lift! and lift heavy. You won't get bulky like the myth, you'll get definition and look sexy!

If you don't have time/money for the gym, theres plenty of exercises you can do at home if you invest in some dumbbells and kettle bells!

I think this person is male, so bulk might not be such a bad thing. :)
I agree with lifting ,but be careful - I tweaked my back doing deadlifts this morning. Don't go heavier than you can handle!

    you're right. my bad...
  • Thanks everyone, and yes I am male. My goals definitely do not include bulking, just really going after definition. I've started implementing a lot of calesthetics, lots of pushups, situps, pullups, dips, etc, and the transformation is slow, but apparent. Not that I'm trying to avoid lifting, but I'm kind of trying to avoid lifting Lol. But if thats what it takes, then I'm all for it.

you still aren't going to bulk with out the calories.

    Go and lift. you're fine.

progressive loading- even doing body weight is fine- lifting just means progressively loading your body to build strength.
