I started running 2 summers ago. Until last summer, I had never run a 5k without taking a walking break... I did it twice last summer and haven't done it since. I signed up for a series of three races called the Wild Rover. It was a 3 miler, 4 miler, and 5 miler. I took 3-4 walking breaks on both the 3 miler and 4 miler. When it came to the 5 miler, I got stubborn and said I could make it a mile without a break, I felt good, so I made myself go another mile, and before I knew it, I had run all 5 miles! I missed my time goal of 1:05 by 10.4 seconds... Two weeks later, I was running a 10k, 39th Annual St. Patrick’s Road Race, and set a goal of no walking breaks and a time goal of 1:20 or less and I nailed BOTH goals with no walking and a time of 1:18:42!
Feeling really proud of myself
