    Even if you didn't have a calorie deficit, I would be very hard to press that cardio would make "you fat".

    Cardio burn calories, even at rest ( afterwords) your body is still burning the calories..

    Not true.

    The way excessive cardio makes you fatter is through burning much more muscle than fat for fuel. So even though you could be losing weight, you could be getting fatter (body composition wise) because, well, the fat is staying and the muscle going.

    More important than your actual weight is the % of that is fat. If that number rises, you are getting fatter. Many who go on a extensive running diet (also known as chronic cardio) experience this. It's called being "skinny fat".

    Tagging because the article appears to be more interesting and subtle than the title. It appears to be worth considering.

    The first two paragraphs directly contradict the title:
    Some people say that cardio will make you fat. This is not true. Cardio does not directly cause you to gain fat. You gain body fat when the energy that is entering the body is greater than the energy that is leaving the body.

    There are certain situations in which doing cardio exercise along with other behaviors can increase the likelihood that someone will gain body fat. But it is very important that everyone understand that cardio is not directly causing this to occur.
