How to Gradually Reintroduce Foods to Your Diet

So, I want to lose about 20-30 pounds. I have already lost four pounds in about five weeks or so through small eating habits and about two or three days' worth of exercise per week. However, I want to get more serious about my weight loss. My CW is 157 pounds, so my SW was 161 pounds. Oh, and for what it's worth, I'm a 5' 4" female with a large frame.

What I want to find is a diet that I can stick to, while still being able to have the occasional cookie or piece of cake (about twice a week or so). I'd like to be able to stick to a strict diet of veggies, fruit, nonfat dairy, nuts, and lean meat for however many weeks I need to until I reach my goal weight. However, I would like to find a way to slowly reintroduce some foods (such as "the occasional piece of cake") so I don't have to give it up for the rest of my life. I would also be exercising with cardio between 3-5 days a week for 30-45 minutes/day, as well as strength training 4 times/week.

Is this realistic? If so, how should I go about following a healthier diet? How should I reintroduce some foods? Also, how do I maintain the healthy diet so I don't become seemingly addicted to bad foods, despite eating some every once in awhile?

I want to change my life for the better, but I would like to be able to enjoy small things here and there, too; even when it comes to eating.

Its a simple as you say. Diet, exercise etc make better choices and, most importantly eat at a deficit until you reach your goal weight then when you are there figure out ypur maintaining intake and eat around that. But most important thing to remember do not deprive your self its the quickest way to fail. And one slice of cake or cookie, does not make you fat as long as you are in a defecit you will lose weight and at maintaining level as long as you dont go over vry often you will not gain weight either.

You are on the right track I can see that. You will do this!. Best to have the odd treat. Life is supposed to be a bit of fun at times too so fit it in when you do a little extra exercise. Add people you admire for what they know when it comes to diet or exercise too so you can follow them. Don't follow people eating low anything or none of this or that. That is fine is it is something that makes you sick otherwise eat what you love in moderation and once you have calories sorted then start sorting what macros you need. Walk/swim.. anything but no need to go overboard or that will make you quit too just like a very low cal diet will. Balance is key :flowerforyou:

I stick to "do what you plan on doing for the rest of your life"

if you restrict tooo much we have the tendency to binge and go crazy when you finally get to have whatever it is you havnt let yourself have for 12 weeks. I eat what I want, and build it into my diet and proportions.

You will lose slower, but its a process and journey. Anyone can lose weight but not eating, but I'm here to be healthy amd train myself how to life that life every day. Build new habits and make them a way of life.
