Knowingly eating in excess

Hi,
Does anyone knowingly eat something which puts them way over their cals? For example eating say their fav ice cream or pizza. Logically you know that a portion will be fine to have, but wanting more even though you KNOW you don't need it. Kind of like rebelling against being good all the time.

Did you check out my diary before you posted this!!!:blushing: I did tonight, knowingly eat in excess!! But with junk food, and I never do that. I eat in excess on purpose atleast 1x a week but with good stuff!!
Although over my MFP caloric limit but not my own personal limit for preventing weight loss!!

oh i did it tonight.
i really wanted chocolate, so i went to the convenience store next door (ive been good so far in not going there everyday!) and bought a king size pack of reese peanut butter cups with the intention of eating only one.
i ate them all, and this was at 11:30pm
edit: ps i felt good about it, i haven't eaten chocolate really since i started living healthier, i don't regret it at all.0 -
I totally know what you are talking about! As you go about your journey there are so many mental "weights" that you ended up struggling with. As you go along the journey, just as your muscles get stronger and your stomach shrinks your self control grows firmer too. I remember feeling so guilty as I would eat things wondering WHY am I doing this? Now I save calories for treats, work out extra or don't eat them at all! Not that I don't have bad days :blushing: but its gotten so much easier! )0

This may seem bad, but I know that there is going to be at least one day where I'm going to go over. So I have decided to control it by picking it as my weigh-in day (obviously after weighing in). That way I have all week to correct it, it satisfies all my "bad" desires. And I find that it actually has not adversely effected my weight loss or maintenance.0

I have been pretty successful losing 48lbs but I sabotage myself regularly and no I don't usually feel good about it! Yesterday for example I had a good day I went out to teach English in the evening n didn't get home till after 10pm but I had a coupla peanut butter toasts n said to my partner " I got the taste for it now" only to be told I've got chocolates and Choccie biccies if you're interested!!!! So I ate LOADS whilst necking wine! Feeling bit crappy this morning I will get back on the wagon today- I no longer fear that one binge equals 48lbs back on.... But I don't control these binges! Oh yes I started my period last night big link there but whether it is physiological or psychological I simply don't know!0

I definitely do this, and that is probably the reason I am where I am now - I have a fight with my own mind about whether I should do it or not, and each time I say - its just one time, then that one time was a hundred times in a row and here I am : (0

I do sometimes (always junk food) and I'm not just starting out either - been on here since April. Last night I knew I was over and I ate a cookie for evening snack and I didn't care. Sometimes I feel guilty, sometimes not. Just depends on the mood I am in. I have been losing steadily, though slowly so it's not like it's really hurting me!0

I did last Saturday on my treat day. I had half a frozen pizza and I foolishly bought 2 bags of chips instead of one and I devoured about a bag and a half. Chips are evil if I eat them I have to keep eating them, but I also mixed in carrots, almonds, cucumber slices and a couple of bottles of water to counterbalance it a little bit. I know that a treat once or twice a week isn't going to obliterate my health. I eat clean the majority of the time and I'm far more active than I've ever been before so I'm not worried.
I'm actually debating whether to have my treat day today or tomorrow. I go by what has the best television shows usually. Today is Psych, Defenders, Friday Night Lights and tomorrow is the 2 hour season finale of Burn Notice.0 -
There are days that I will...I try not to eat to "stuffed" and I try to only do this if it is a consious choice...I have only eaten to excess mindlessly once in the last long time. On Thanksgiving I gave myself the mental go ahead to eat my favorite sides without consideration to nutritional value but made a promise to myself I would enjoy ever bite. I find that when I decide to enjoy every bite I don't need to eat a lot of my favorites....When it is mindless eating where you realize that while you may have tasted the food going down you didn't stop to enjoy you (general you) seem to overeat.0

I just quit my job to be home more with my kids but OMG I am eating through everything and I guess I am a nervous Nelly. Sure I am with my kids after school but I am giong to have to go back to work or I will get as big as a house soon. I think it is even more stressful to be home then working. That said I hope I can get control and get my act together. Maybe I need to go on some kind of religious fast or something.0

oh yea I ate cookies, chips, bread, crackers, soup, and candy last night after being good all day. Not even sure why, I think because this time every year I have to take my board exams and studying like that always makes me hungry.0

I eat more calories than I should once a week every week. It keeps me sane and hasn't hurt my weight-loss at all. I just make sure I get back on my plan the next day knowing in my head that 6-8 days later I get to have the foods I miss again. Because of being able to do this regularly I don't feel guilty on those days at all. However even on those days I am aware of what I'm eating even if the guilt isn't there. :-)0

This sounds familiar to me. I will sit down with a chocolate chip cookie, a piece of pizza, a small scoop of ice cream, etc...and then all of the sudden I've eaten 5 more. Then I feel guilty and horrible about it and completely disgusted.
This is the cycle of my horrible relationship with food. I was never taught moderation, I was always taught self-deprivation and binging. I watched my mom do it her whole life, and it got worse after my dad left when I was a teenager. I never knew there was a healthy lifestyle, loving yourself, feeling good about what you put into your body. All I knew was dieting and binging.
Treating yourself once in a while is normal and healthy. No one is perfect, and that's why there are treats in the world. It's NOT healthy to go mental and be uncontrolled with food. I totally know how you feel and I am working through the same things. Know you aren't the only one, that we are all going through this and working toward health together. Friend me if you want to talk about this kind of stuff, I"m always willing to!0
