Why does myfitnesspal say I am going to gain weight?

Whenever, i eat healthy, my fitness pal says I am going to gain weight, but I don't. If I eat really badly, of course I do gain. But I feel like the thing that says what you will weigh in 5 weeks in inaccurate. Can some people just eat 300 or more calories extra and not show it? I just dont know how to rely on the site. If I eat how it tells me to lose weight, I am STARVING and I can't handle it.

My estimated weight at the end of each day goes up everyday by 10ish lbs. I wonder to if I am doing everything right?

It's just an estimate and not a very accurate one at that. I personally just ignore it.

It's just a math equation that depends on:
    - You eating the exact number of calories every day
    - Your calorie burn estimates being accurate and the same everyday
    - How much you weighed the day you clicked the button

    Chances are:
    - Your calorie burn estimates are going to be slightly off (I don't think there is anyone who can state they have 100% accuracy with this)
    - You aren't going to eat the exact same number of calories everyday

Gain and loss does not depend on whether you eat "healthy" (whatever you think that means) but whether you are over or under the amount of calories your body used that day.

What would y'all say was better, being under calories or over to loose the most weight?

The easiest way is not to cut anything out but to cut portions plus make sure there is protein in most meals as it fills you up. Its working for me .... And I just use the site to help me learn about calories etc which is really helping me tto make better choices. But I don't actually cut out any food I fancy completely

To lose weight you will eat under your TDEE (Total daily calorie requirements including exercise)
To gain weight you eat over your TDEE calories
To maintain your weight eat your TDEE calories..

If your activity level is wrong, or MFP's estimate of your TDEE is wrong that number will be wrong.

I really want to be able to tell MFP what my TDEE is.

Tips. Set the activity level to the appropriate level for you lifestyle, Many of us are at least lightly active.

If you have less than 10 pounds to lose, chose the 'lose 0.25 kgs/lose 0.5 pounds' option.

The 2 pounds a week/1 kg a week option are really just for obese individuals who have a LOT to lose.

Eating healthy does not mean you are losing weight. If you eat more than you burn, you will gain, MFP is completely accurate in this. It does not matter if you eat extra 300 calories in broccoli or pizza, regarding weight gain.
