Weight Loss Surgery _

I am putting this in this category because I am really just venting!!

WTF is with all these people getting surgery for weight loss all of a sudden!?!?! I log into Facebook and I see 10 people that either did it - are getting ready for - or just started their appt for. I want to comment and say why don't you try dieting first!!!

I am not talking about people that REALLY need to do this..one of those ten I speak of...He needed it. He tried dieting for two years and did not have much success. His wife lost over 100 lbs on WW and he was doing it right along with her. He did everything right - tried losing weight / more active. Counseling for his food relationship etc. before getting the surgery. And as expected he is doing everything right after the surgery.

These other people think Hey I can get the surgery and be skinny yea me!! SMH!! None of the others have ever stepped foot in a gym and consider walking to the fridge all the exercise they need - they eat nothing but junk and expect the surgery to solve all their problems!! I'm talking - type of people that post pictures of all the grease induced food they eat all the time!!! One particular person just posted yesterday about her Chinese Buffet adventure...then today posted the date of her appt to discuss the surgery ?!?!?!

Ugh sorry just so needed to get that off my chest!!! Carry on

I know a lady that gained 30lbs just to qualify for it. It irritates me, why not put the work in and earn your new body. A big party of society is becoming too lazy.

I think they think it will be easy. They can get the surgery and the weight will just fall off!

EDIT: Another thing that gets me is most have to lose 30-40 before they will do it! Hello if you can commit to losing that why not the whole thing?!?

I agree I know at least 5 people that have had it and another one fixing to. Just remember we are the strong ones working for what we want. They took the easy way out. I would not want to have surgery if I didnt have to very dangerous. Only way I can see doing that is if you were really bad off health wise and it was life or dealth susiation.

Ughh I have seen a few ppl do this and one wanted the state to pay for her surgery(GRR!!) but I know darn well that they are not doing what they need to do to lose weight -- they are out there drinking, eatting fried CRAP, sitting on their lazy bottoms all day - they do nothing to improve their situation. I know of a girl that had the surgery but all she does is party.. I am sorry.. NO you didn't need it before... change your lifestyle before you go out and try to get insurance or the state to pay for your laziness. SOME people really need this surgery... others are looking for an easy out bc they want the quick fix -- ANNOYING. I feel the same way about liposuction (as I have an overweight friend that has had 3 procedures! - Go work out and quit eatting crap!)

People think its a permanent fix and that they will be skinny and model type in a year.. that is better than working for it.. what they don't realize is if they don't stick with what the Dr's tell you, eat like a bird and get certain nutrients for the rest of your life.. your just going to gain weight and have even bigger health risks..

Its their ideal quick fix, and when its covered by Insurance its even easier.. it should really stop being covered unless its a serious life threatening situation..

My (former) doctor really pushed me into considering it. He never once mentioned healthy diet, being more active, etc. He just said I would qualify because of my BMI and I should attend an informational session about it. I went to the information session, said no freaking way, found a new doctor and started losing on my own.

100% agree that insurance should NOT cover it unless it is life threatening!! I had to pay big bucks for my oldest daughter to have heart surgery...why should they (those that do nothing healthy) get this for free!!!!
