Weight loss after stomach bug temporary or permanent?

I just got over a mild stomach bug, but lost 4.5 pounds in one day. I didn't eat much these past 2 days. However, most of my weight loss is just water (I'm assuming). Is it possible to keep some of this weight off or will I go back to my normal weight once my body restores the fluid it lost? What are the chances I'll just gain half the weight back?

It's likely you will gain most.. If not all.. back in the next few days. I had the stomach flu a few weeks ago and dropped 7 lbs overnight. It all came back. You lose a lot of water, so as soon as you start eating and drinking again your weight should go back up. Hope you're feeling better0

lets say you ate 1000 calories/day for those 2 days and your TDEE is 2000. That's a deficit of 2000 calories, or just over a half pound that's actual loss vs. water.
Even if you ate nothing, the most you could have legitimately lost is about 1.15 lbs unless your TDEE is substantially higher.
For half to be actual weight loss (or 2.25 lbs) you would have had to have eaten nothing for 2 days, and have a TDEE equal to 3937.5 cals/day.0
