You realize that gaining weight, irregardless of what it is, requires a surplus right? So eat more, you gain. I'm not understanding why the foods have to be different. I'm eating the same things I ate losing weight that I am trying to gain. Just avoid your food allergies and make something everyone likes? Maybe just add some milk or snacks for those needing to gain (add calories)0

Make your kids some milk shakes with whole milk and ice cream for a snack. Keep snack cakes and donuts around for them to snack on. My boys were skinny when they were younger and never stopped moving except when they slept. I always baked a cake or cookies for them to snack on. They ate everything I cooked for meals. I made shakes for them along with a snack before they went to bed. They are both slim as adults.0

I agree - make something that everyone likes and then modify your plate. For example: When I make spaghetti, I keep the noodles and sauce separate. Then I pour the sauce over steamed veggies for me and over noodles for them.
And let the kids eat! lol What kind of childhood would you have without poptarts?!?!? BORING!! Everything it moderation though. Our saying in our house is that you have to eat the good before the bad. If I put creamy parmesan noodles in front of my daughter she will eat those first and then say she is "full" (but ask for a snack afterwards). So I typically put veggies and the protein on her plate first and then promise "noodles" after she eats it all.
You should be trying to lose weight or keep fit for yourself though. Just because you have to eat healthy doesn't mean that everyone has to eat healthy. I eat a LCHF diet and have to remember that not everyone can eat just fat and meat for dinner. lol
Good luck!0 -
I heard sweet rolls with cool whip frosting is a real hit with the family................0

We all eat the same basic meals in our house. However, we eat portion sizes according to our needs: this means my husband eats more than I do, and we both eat more than our 4-year old (sometimes! sometimes he is a bottomless pit). On the occasion that my husband and I want something that contains a food my son is allergic to (we want peanut sauce, for example) my son either gets a modified version or it's a special night where he gets a quesadilla or almond butter + jam along with cottage cheese and fruit. It's not difficult.0

Im not putting everyone on a diet because i need to lose weight, it is about their health and nutrition and Its more the variety of meals im struggling to get everyone to eat.
Until a couple of years ago when i could no longer cook due to injury and everyone got hooked on take away and ready meals I had always made the same meal for everyone from scratch , added and removed as needed with the allergies and calories etc.
But no ones will eat the same anymore... they don't like it and will grab a takeaway or munchies of some sort and they are munching on junk all day and night. Im not happy about it its not good for them and they're young adults now so ......0 -
I'm not sure exactly how old they are but just don't buy the junk or give them money for fast food. Then they can't eat it unless they go out to get it themselves.
Cook like you used to. If they're really hungry they will eat. It may take some getting used to but hopefully they adjust.
My youngest is such a picky eater and soo tiny so I Put more of the calorie dense foods on her plate then I do on my oldest.(hes a bottomless pit) and let her drink more milk.
My oldest eats and eats so I load his plate with veggies. Thankfully he likes them. and after a glass of milk switch him to water.
My husband eats so bad. I make good healthy meals and if he doesn't like it than too bad. He can make himself something.
Good luck , and hopefully everyone will get used to the things you make again.0 -
You could actually eat the same things and still lose weight by using portion control and weighing the food.0

My boyfriend eats a TON of food so I serve little cheese blocks with dinner to help fill him up.
I'm usually full after one plate.0
