New, scared, confused but willing

Hi all,

I am a 5'4'' 20-something girl weighing 141 lbs and tired of the extra fat. I am not a fan of diets, but this is more of an attempt to change my lifestyle, and lead a healthier life. So exercise, clean eating and moderation will be my best friends. I started taking photos of everything I eat to keep track, now I hope to log in calories.

Anyone new or old interested in adding me and keeping each other motivated, please do add me as a friend :flowerforyou:

Goodluck!

  • Best thing that could happen is what you said in your post. Its not a diet its a lifestyle change and realizing that is huge.
  • I'm around the same as you. I'd love too  I'm new too.

You have the proper attitude to make this work. The one thing I will caution is that if you aren't planning to eat "clean" (whatever that is to you) forever, then don't go overboard right away. If you cut out too many of the things you really like completely you may find yourself losing willpower. Allow the occasional treat, just fit it in to your goals. If I couldn't have the occasional french fry or DQ Blizzard I'd go insane.

WELCOME! We all were new once too and started somewhere.

I have been on this journey for a while...part of it is always challenging yourself and trying something new even if it may be scary at first. Currently I am trying powerlifting... Trust me I am not a strong chic its all new and very scary...but everything new that we do out of our comfort zone will help us grow as a person!
Recently I read this from a self improvement article online:
" Stop thinking you’re not ready. – Nobody ever feels 100% ready when an opportunity arises. Because most great opportunities in life force us to grow beyond our comfort zones, which means we won’t feel totally comfortable at first."

    Good Luck on your journey!

I'm new too. My goals are long-term fitness. Aiming to lose body fat %. I'm 128ish 5"3 and don't care so much about the scale number as I do about increasing strength and creating a healthy lifestyle that I can maintain. Feel free to add me.

I'm in the same boat. Starting to push myself outside my comfort zone. I try to try a new exercise or two every week. I'm thinking it's time to start adding deadlifts.

@Kita thank you so much for the quote from the article, really made me smile and ease some of my apprehension.

@ Sue, I agree- I don't believe in eliminating entire food groups or junk foods forever, it's all about moderation and if I want some fries at the end of the month, I will make sure I enjoy each greasy one of them :)

I am really impressed and warmed by the attitude people have on this site. Looking forward to it, goodluck everyone
  • I basically eat whatever I want as long as it all fits into my calories and nutritional recommendations. So no diet needed, really. Just moderation!

Anytime Nuna! We are friends now and I am active on MFP so if ever you want to chit chat about anything I check and respond to emails pretty regularly. I feel like MFP should be a positive and supportive place for people! Seek out friends who enjoy some of the same things as you even if they are online vs. real life. I will see you around on the msg boards.

Oh and you reminded me I wanted to post a blog about comfort zones...so I did that...so thank you for reminding me without even trying
