My convo w/ Herbalife Dist. & Nutritional Counselor @ my gym

Just thought I'd share this 'conversation' I had last night with the Independent Herbalife Distributor and Nutritional Counselor at my gym.
As I'm leaving the gym, she and her employees try to call me over to take a free 'protein' shake sample.
Me: I told you guys, I don't take protein shakes.
Her: Why not? It's a free sample!
Me: I'd rather get all my protein from food. Shakes don't fill me up at all.
Her: Maybe you [sic] change your mind? It's good for you.
Me: I already eat about 200 grams of protein per day. How would it be good for me to push myself over my daily caloric goal with more protein that I don't need?
Her: It's low calorie.
Me: Yeah? How low?
Her: It's just 200 calories?
Me: 200 calories!? That's a lot of calories. Especially for something which doesn't fill me up and I don't need.
Her: [Walks over to me as I'm leaning on the exit door] But it has a lot of nutrients. It's good for you.
Me: I don't know what's in it, so it may be good for someone who isn't good at managing their nutrition and needs to supplement their nutrient intake. I don't have that problem.
Her: How many calories do you eat a day?
Me: Usually averages out to a little under 4,000
Her: So you're trying to gain weight?
Me: No, my TDEE is usually around 4,000. See I wear a heart rate monitor to measure my calorie burn from my workouts.
Her: What's TDEE?
Me: . . . . . Total Daily Energy Expenditure...
Her: Well I can measure your RDA.
Me: . . . . . . . .
Her: Your resting metabolic rate. [sic] So you know how many calories you need to eat. What's your weight goal?
Me: . . . . How would I not know what my BMR is if I know what my Total Daily Energy Expenditure is?
Her: [Looks over and realizes how many potential 'customers' are walking by as she tries to debate with me]
Me: Look, I just lost.. [She cuts me off]
Her: Well you seem to know what your doing. Just keep doing whatever you're doing. [Runs over to some woman at sample table] Free protein sample! Try it, it's good for you!
Yeah, so that happened.

I'd tell the gym management I'm going to leave if they support sleazy MLM people there.0

Yep, I hate when people bother you, specifically Sales People!
Back in my uneducated/younger days I took some Herbal life stuff - made me nauseous Blek0 -
you handled it better than I would...
My conversation would have gone like this...
Her...try the shake it's good for you
Me...really do you drink it?
Her...well of course I do....
Me...looks her up and down...then no I definately don't want it...
But I'm a b*tch too...even if she looked good I would still do that.0 -

A bunch of my facebook friends jumped on the Herbalife bandwagon and tried to get me to do it. I laughed at them and they are just NOW realizing it's a pyramid scheme... How unfortunate.0 -
 Love it. Nice response!0

I'm not going to tell them I'm going to leave, but I will tell them they need to look for a real nutritional counselor. Sure she's 'independent' and rents space there, but it reflects poorly on the gym itself. Not only is she trying to push a 'product' [well most MLM's would say "SHARE"] but she has no clue about actual nutrition.you handled it better than I would...
