Hi everyone! My name is Paula and I suppose I'll introduce myself! I'm 23-years-old, a full-time college student, a full-time baby sitter (to my gorgeous 9 month old niece), and that pretty much sums my life up at this point. I'm a HUGE family person and I have an amazing boyfriend. I love meeting new people and I hope that I can be an encouragement to others on here! In high school I was always an athlete and stayed in shape, but over the last 5 years, after taking some medication that the doctors assured me "wasn't addicting" and "didn't have side-effects", I've gained quite a bit of weight! Last month I completely went off the medication and I did some research and several others who had taken the medicine at some point and came off of it had a lot of success losing the weight, so I'm hoping to have the same success! I just recently learned that I have high blood pressure and now I'm having to take medication for that! I'm not sure if that is a side-effect from the medicine, the weight I gained, if it's genetic, or a combination of the three but I'm HOPING that once I lose some weight and begin to get back in shape that I'll be able to go off the blood pressure medicine as well! Anyhow, I've rambled on enough! Feel free to ask me any questions and add me as a friend if you like! I need all the encouragement I can get! I can't wait to be "sexy" again and ready for the beach this summer! =) Thanks for reading! Best of luck everyone!

  • Hi Paula. My name is Kelly & I want to welcome you to My Fitness Pal!Gaining weight as a result of the medication is a possibility. But there could be other factors as well like genetics. I wish you the best of luck in your weight loss journey & look forward to seeing the results!

Thanks guys! I've been putting this off for months but I've FINALLY decided to do it and stick to it. Thanks for the encouragement! =) I'm tired of feeling so digusted with myself!
  • Ah hah! Another person driven by disgust. That's what drove me here and into the gym. I just got disgusted with myself. Granted, my weight gain is due to my own laziness and a bit of age, but I just couldn't stand seeing what I'd let myself get to. Go luck in your endeavors, I hope you reach all of your goals.
