1200 is what a 2-3 year old should eat. You can go below that, but you may not get all the necessary micros your body needs from food alone.

I'm new here, but I think that we need more info.

From your profile you have been around long enough to have determined if you have been losing weight eating 1200. If you have not then you are not in a deficit. If you are not in a deficit then you are either eating more than you think (due to logging errors or overestimating your intake) and you either need to eat less, work out more or start logging accurately. If you are losing weight at about .5 lb / week (since you don't have much to lose) eating 1200 then its good for you. If you are losing faster then you can probably eat 100 cals more / week until you reach a good rate.

This is a calorie calculator that I have found to be very accurate for me. It breaks the numbers down into BMR, TDEE, and what you would need to consume to lose weight. I think it is a little more helpful than MFP in showing you just what your body needs. Compare your MFP goal to what Scooby says and see what you think.
  • What are you stats and how much are you trying to loose... I'm on around 1300 every day and I'm 4' 11".. that is not too much at all!
