Calories burned

Why am I not burning as many calories as others? I have been working out on a regular basis and losing inches but I don't seem to burn as many calories as others in Zumba class. I feel like I work out sufficiently there but there are some that wear the HR monitors like me but burn twice what I do? This includes all ages, sizes....they still burn more calories.....

Do you know what your heart rate zones are? I have a certain zone mine needs to be in to help me burn the most calories. So my HRM helps me to keep it in that range.0

Are you tracking your food, exercise, measurements, and water? Have you calculated your BMR and TDEE? Are you eating too little or too much food? Have you established a calorie deficiency? How long have you been exercising?

My maximum HR is 185bpm, I usually range anywhere between 136-172bpm doing Zumba and at the gym on the treadmill, Jacob's ladder, rowing machine, etc....Either way, at Zumba I feel like I give damn near my all with out slipping on the floor and busting my tail! The floors are so slippery in the Firehouse Hall where we do it and I feel like I keep up with the instructor for the most part......0

All I have is that the heavier you are, the more calories you will burn than a lighter person doing the same activity.0

1 - other people could be overestimating their burn...happens all the time
2 - If those other people are heavier they are going to burn more calories as they have more mass to move around.
3 - don't worry about how many calories you burn; if you're using MFP properly your weight loss deficit is built into your diet, you don't have to exercise to create a calorie deficit. Use your diet for weight control; exercise for fitness.
4 - don't worry about what other people are burning or what other people are doing...focus on your own fitness and nutritional goals.0 -
Weight loss is like yoga. Don't compare yourself to anyone else. Just try to do better today than you did yesterday or last week.
Calorie burns are only estimates. With 23 lb. to go (congratulations!), set your goal to .5 lb. per week and be patient.

Had to do some research on some of the terminology, helpful information. I was trying to eat clean (not religiously), track calories in and out. I weigh my food, portion control. I have been doing Zumba for a year and a half, gym for 4 months. I lost 30 pounds last year but found 6-8 over the holidays and currently down 27 lbs. I am weight training as well. I would say there are times when I don't lose weight and I know why...bad eating but I don't understand why I am not burning closer to the same calories as others that are pretty close in age, weight.....Need to learn to compete with myself, not others....0
