Just Needed to Vent

The woman who sits behind me at work is rude in general. Lately she's been mocking me for making healthy choices. Today my work is catering in Olive Garden for our "holiday lunch" (I say that in quotations because they won't let us stop working to eat it). I'm not even a fan of Olive Garden, so I brought my own lunch. The FIRST THING this woman says when she comes in is "Today is Olive Garden! I bet Shannon won't even eat lunch." I turned around and said "I'll be eating the lunch a brought from home". She then gave a snarky little sniff and said, "You know you can let yourself go once in awhile". I looked at her and said "I know that. I'm going to Tim's (my boyfriend) parent's house this weekend and I would rather eat his mom's good homemade food instead of Olive Garden". She rolled her eyes at me and said "Ok". She also makes rude comments when I head to the gym at lunch...when I snack on veggies..when I turn down cookies that vendors bring in..
I HATE IT when people get an attitude about my healthy habits! I know it's just a part of this process but it still irks me! How dare I not take the calorie and the HUGE sodium hit for mediocre food I could care less about and instead save the calories for food I know will taste amazing. Ugh. Just wanted to vent. I figured all you awesome folks out there would understand.

What a *&*^%! Seriously, don't let her get to you. It sounds like she's jealous!0

Sorry you have to deal with that, I hate people like that!!! Sounds like she is jealous. Try to enjoy your Friday!! :drinker:0
-
As my Mom would say, "you need to pray for that woman." lol. She sounds just a joy to be about. She just makes comments to make herself feel better. I once worked with a gal who had colitis and was a runner, and when we'd go out to lunch we'd always go through this do you have balsamic vinegar? Do you make your own dressing, then you have balsamic, yadda yadda. We'd tease her and bought her a small bottle of vinegar to take out with us, but that was it. She knew we didn't care and that it was just funny b/c she said the same 3 sentences every time.
Hang in there! I'm with you on home made yummy food vs. Olive garden.0 -
I agree, she's just jealous of the fact that you have the will power to do what she cant. I know its hard but don't let her get to you. You're better than that. Have a great holiday and enjoy the home cooked meal at your boyfriends parents house. :-)0
-
Seriously?! She sounds jealous of you. I bet inside she is seething because she wishes she had half the willpower you do! Don't let her get to you and enjoy your good home cooked food this weekend!!0
-
JEALOUS........She just can't accept that her willpower is next to nothing and that you have developed a healthier lifestyle...0

I wouldnt even turn around to talk to her, I would simply raise my arm and middle finger. then maybe she would get the point0

I'm known as the princess of snark in my little circle. I work with this woman you speak of. I like to stuff her face in my weight loss. She told me in teh begining that i wouldn't lose any weight if i didn't go low carb. she eats low ish carb all week, and then on the weekends she eats waffles and mashies! Seriously. I'd snark it up and call it a day.0

i'd put money on it that this woman is overweight.

Sounds a lot like my work!! People are so annoying!!!  :explode: :grumble:0

Some people's lives are so miserable they have to they have to knock someone else down to make themselves feel better. I don't like Olive Garden either (all you can eat pasta??!! What a farce to take some so filling and make it all you can eat).
Sounds like some girls I went to elementary and middle school with. Next time she makes a nasty little comment just look at her and say 'grow up'. Then turn around and walk away.
You don't have to justify anything to anyone but you!

hahaha what a b-i-t-c-h! jealous indeed!
i'm generally a pretty snarky person so i'd probably come right back at her. don't mess with me if you aren't prepared to get it back. hand her a bottle of water after she's done eating her olive garden lunch and say "you'll need this for all the sodium you just took in "0 -

yep, I would flip her the bird too...don't even make direct eye contact, just subtley tell her to hump herself...she'd be speechless...0 -

My mom would say the same thing!!! haha. What a poor soul, she has to be envious. I wouldn't let it get to you but I probably would have eaten Olive Garden.. if there were salad and breadsticks. I don't care how bad it is! I love that stuff. Sigh.. hah. But good job on making the best choices! Don't let her get to you. She isn't worth it.0 -

LOL!! I like this one!0 -
In the words of Alf... "Ahhhh... JEALOUS!"0

Sounds like jealousy to me...she's being a hater because she isn't as strong as you are! She only wishes she was that awesome!0
-
I agree with bethvandenberg, she just makes those rude comments to make herself feel/look good. Ignore her, although I know it is hard and just keep up the great work!! Keep on keepin' on!!
Have a great weekend!! :flowerforyou:0 -
What a beotch! I guess I am lucky that I work with encouragaing people or people that mind their own business. (Well mind it enough that I can't hear them when they talk behind my back.) I can't stand Olive Garden in the first place and wouldn't eat it even before I was on my diet.0
-
Ha..Poeple get on us for being overweight...than they get on us for being healthy. I think they just arent happy unless they are *****ing about something!! Don't sweat it. Your doing great, and she is an obnoxious, Jealous you know what!!0
-
This is what I do..
When someone keeps on about my food choices every time they get something to drink other then water I make a point to to tell them that they should really drink more water and all of the health benefits of drinking water instead of tea, soda, etc. It takes some time but they finally SHUT UP about my choice because they don't want to hear my feed back on their unhealthy ones. If they don't get the point you can start picking apart what they are eating...
It's probably better to pray for them but if that fails you can just think of Jim and Dwight from the office...0 -

Exactly!0 -
Well first off I would tell the other person that the day your eating habits personally effect her life that that is the day she can comment on them. Until then, she can watch what she eats and handle those consequences herself. And, if she would like any tips on living a healthier lifestyle you would be more than happy to share.
If that doesn't work steal all of her goodies and replace them with celery! :devil:0 -
Let me start this entire post by saying I'm in a very snarky mood today,
so my advice would be to call her out for her rudeness when she calls you out for your healthy eating. Something like "You are making fun of me cause I eat HEALTHY?? What is wrong with you?? Maybe you should follow my example a little. Wanna come to the gym with me at lunch and work off all those calories you wasted on eating that Olive Garden crap??"
or the PC thing might be to go to HR about harassment...file a complaint that she makes your working environment uncomfortable because she is constantly rude to you.
I've been bullied a lot in my life and I'm done being the one to keep my mouth shut because I'm better than they are. More than likely they will STFU if you call them out in front of everyone for being rude to you.
My belief is nothing will change if you say nothing. You are telling her its ok to treat you like this when you act like it doesn't bother you.
but like I said....I'm snarky today0 -
Soooooo blatently jealous. Forget her! I couldn't agree more with KendalBeee's post.0

I have to laugh because I'm way past snarky and had to delete and retype my response 3 times before I posted it.0 -
Wow! On the bright side, at least you have something/someone to get you revved up when working out.
I agree with many of the posters here: she's jealous! I would want to confront her. I hate fights/arguments but sometimes enough is enough and this woman needs to hear you.
I would be tempted to say something like this, "Are you so insecure with yourself that you have to ignorantly point out my meal options for the day? Are you so unhappy with yourself that you have to make fun of me for eating healthy and feeling good about myself? If you are so tortured with your self being, feel free to come with me to the gym sometime. I can show you a thing or to."
Now, I would want to say all of that but I probably wouldn't when it came to the time of confronting her. But you should definitely confront her because you don't deserve to be treated that way when you go into work.0 -
I feel for you. My MONSTER IN LAW (mother in law) IS THAT WOMAN!! She's incredibly rude like this on a daily basis as well, and brings unhealthy food (cake, cookies, muffins, chocolate, donuts) to my house on a daily basis even after I've repeatedly asked her NOT to. Some people are just jealous of your motivation, and your drive/willpower.0

If you call her out, make sure to use the word BULLY because thats exactly what she is and that word has become really noticed in the past year. She probably doesn't even see herself as a bully....she probably just thinks she's picking on you. But whatever....she's a bully and she needs to be stopped.0 -
She is so not nice and seems really jealous!!! I'm with you...I only eat the things I really want and not waist my calories of things I don't really want. You are amazing....so you just hold your head up high and continue what you are doing in your skinny pants!!!0
