So I've read a ton of other posts about how eating really low calories messes up your metabolism, but how long does it take to do that? Yesterday was a really depressing day and I just didn't feel like eating. I also went to the gym, so my net calories ended up around 200. The day before was normal and there's a Christmas party tonight, so I know I'll eat a lot of calories today. Is one day enough to mess things up?

No, you're fine. Everywhere I've read is it takes around 3 days to affect your metabolism.

Yeah. I would agree- last time I had a killer cold I took in about that much, and once I recovered all was back to normal. Some people don't even believe in "starvation mode." I would guess it's possible, but one day shouldn't screw it up too bad.

    HTH.

I don't think one day is enough to do damage.....heck some people get the flu for longer and are fine. However, 200 net calories is VERY low and I would do my best not to go that low again. Next time you end up that way......find some way to eat a small amount (since you don't "feel" like eating) to get in a lot a calories. A couple of spoonfuls of peanut butter would get you a couple hundred more calories and isn't very large in volume. Or maybe a smoothie.....where you don't feel like you're eating but getting in calories none the less.

Like I said I think you are ok but would make sure that you don't go that low again. Good Luck and have fun at your Christmas party!
