Hi, my names Sara and I am new to MFP. I am 5'4 and weigh 177lbs (yikes!) I have always weighed 110 until I had my daughter a year and a half ago. I am trying to go back down to around 120 so I have to lose 57lbs! I'm new at this whole eating healthy and weight loss stuff and don't have anyone to really keep me motivated so that's why I joined this site. I just started a diet on Monday of this week and I try to eat around 1200 calories a day, per my dr's orders. Any tips, tricks, pointers would be greatly appreciated!! Look forward to talking to some of you! =o)

Welcome Sara! I think you will find many supportive people to ehlp you on your journey. Joining MFP is an excellent first step. Most of us were new to this whole eating healthy thing. Best suggestion is to journal what you eat, which means everything you put in your mouth, from a stick of gum to a nibble on something while cooking. There are lots of tools here to help you track the nutritional content of everything, as well as to help calculate exercise. Jump on in and ask questions. We are all happy to help.

My trick/tip/pointer is to implement changes into your life as you are ready for them so as not to become overwhelmed and fall off the wagon. It will take longer to lose the weight, but it's about sticking with it and creating a lifestyle that you can maintain for the rest of your life. Welcome, good luck and I really look forward to seeing you succeed! :)
  • Thanks!! This is my third attempt at trying to lose weight and I am determined this time. I am trying to start off slow by making small changes like cutting out soda and juice and replacing it with water, replacing burgers with turkey burgers, etc. So far it has been working great! I'm going to start adding in small workouts next week once I get a little more used to the diet end of this :) Thanks for the support!
