Hey all
Just wondering if MFP takes peri-menopause into consideration when allotting you your calorie count?
I have what is referred to as the "Menopot", basically my muffin top is expanding while I go through peri-menopause. Any suggestions on how to win against this?

No mfp is for general weight loss. Menopause and fat can be related to an estrogenic hormonal issue. You should seek a specialist to have your hormones and bloodwork checked.0 -

Exercise. Aerobic and resistance training. And a well balanced diet. Don't overeat, but don't undereat either.
It's important to include resistance training because this is the stage in life when women typically lose muscle and bone. Getting proper nutritioin, espeically enough calcium and vitamin D, and regular resistance training can prevent this.
Aerobic exercise is good for the cardio-vascular system.
Edit: By don't undereat I mean don't make your deficit too large, naturally you do need a deficit for weight loss.0 -
I have bever heard of a "meno-pot!"
I would guess that strength training will be your best weapon against the body composition changes that happen at that time, and it will help your bones!0 -
Yeah, wear higher wasted pants. Sorry but I don't get all these over weight ladies (I am one too) wearing low riders. I have never had muffin top because I refuse to wear them. People should dress for their body size and shape and not what they think they want to look like.0

Okay - first off, I LOVE the title of this thread - it sounds like a cheesy country song!
Second - your profile says you're 38 - that's kind of young to be going through peri-menopause......I'm going through peri-menopause but I'm almost 48.....are you sure you're really going through peri-menopause?
Third - I have a tiny belly and I'm a size 2.....but I have ALWAYS had a little belly - even before I had my daughter. .....but I love that you call it a 'peri-pot'! I have to say i've come to terms with my belly....I eat right and work out 6 days a week - if that's our only complaint - life isn't too horrible, is it?!0 -
Sorry - correction - menopot!
But - now I'm liking peri-pot!0 -
I started pre menopause at 37yrs old. keep up the exercise and watch what you eat...
