So I've been tracking my food for about 5 days now, I went over slightly yesterday and the day before, however it wasn't major.
I weighed myself this morning and I have gained about 7lbs!!!!
This has really dishearted me :( I then checked my measurements but nothing has changed.
Can anyone give me some insight into this please?

Welcome!

    1. May be water weight.
    2. May be a gain of lean MUSCLE.

Keep it up for a few weeks and see what happens. These things take time, unfortunately.

    Good luck!

    It is not muscle.
It has been 5 days, which is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Weight fluctuation is a normal process for everybody.

Weight loss is not linear. Weigh yourself once a week, at the same time & under the same conditions. Take photos & measurements too.

Don't worry about it so much. Just stick to it, try and stay under and you'll see it come off in time. Don't get disheartened because it's normal for weight to jump around what with water weight or that time of the month or whatnot. Don't give up and don't worry! goodluck!

Thanks guys, I know I shouldn't get disheartened but it's hard not to.
I weighed myself about a week and a half ago, and I was 150lbs. I have been eating pretty well, trying to stay under my calorie goal, which I have managed to do apart from last night.
I will weigh myself again in a week from now and take measurements again to see if there is any change.

With 20 lb. to lose, a healthy weight loss goal is .5 lb. per week. Be patient!

Weight fluctuations are completely normal. Water weight, hormones, all kinds of stuff can affect it. Keep doing what you've been doing and weigh yourself next week. But, be patient.. the less weight you have to lose - the slower you generally lose it. So, don't give up.

So your saying while eating at a deficit the OP has gained 7 pound of lean muscle. Wow I'd love to know her secret as would a professional body builders who at there best would be lucky to gain half a pound a week of muscle training 5 hours a day plus and eating huge amounts of calories

Weight fluctuates a lot. I suggest weighing yourself every hour for a couple days, just to show yourself the amazing fluctuations that can happen. For your normal weigh in, do it in the morning before you've had any food or water, once a week. You will see a trend of loss over time. Be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day, as they say.

Usually when people say things like " I have been eating pretty well " and " trying to stay under my calorie goal " they are actually saying that there is a good chance that they have not always been eating well and that they know that " trying to stay under the calorie goal " was kind of iffy.
I know I talk like that when I am not making my best effort. When I do, I " know " that I have been eating very well " and I also " know " that I have stayed under my calorie goal and when that happens I usually lose. I think when you bring certainty into your daily food regimen, you will see success. The rest is almost certainly water weight and also lack of patience. Eat within your deficit, measure, weigh and log everything and you will be just fine.
    Good Luck !

Lol well that isn't the case for me. Apart from yesterday, I have stayed within my calorie goal, weighing and tracking absolutely everything. A couple of days, I have actually been under my goal. I have been making every effort to lose weight, and my choice of words doesn't mean anything.

You must learn patience. Keep doing what you're doing for two weeks, then reevaluate. If you haven't met your weight loss goal of 1 lb. by then, start another thread. But 5 days isn't enough time.

Log everything you eat accurately & honestly. Read this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants
