Stuck!

I seem to be stuck between 169 (12 stone 11lbs) and 170 pounds (12 stone12lbs) at the moment even though sticking to my portion cutting and moving more ....calories usually hit my goal so a bit disappointed having got all excited about my weight loss! I know I have to keep going but its disheartening!

I am also stuck... between 174 and 177. I go back and forth and can't seem to break 174. Has anything helped?

How long have you been on MFP?
My experience, I've been on since beginning of Feb. 2014. The 1st 3 weeks I bounced between 178 and 174. 178 was my starting weight. I finally broke 174 and have been losing consistently since. (I think my body had to get used to the deficit and lose the water weight).
When I first started, I also started exercising more regularly. I think that has an impact with your muscles retaining water for muscle repair. That is why the 1st 3 weeks I was not seeing consistent or actual weight loss. (This was not muscle gain, just additional water).
Give it some time, If you are still not losing, you will need to reduce your calories or increase the exercise or better yet, do both for a few weeks. You will see results.
FYI I haven't lost a ton, but I am now down to 167 lbs. That Is an 11 lb loss since I started.

Have medical reasons been ruled out? If so, how long have you been stuck?
Have you re-checked your numbers to make sure you are at the deficiency target you need to lose?0 -

Well, exactly how long is stuck? If it's been more than three weeks, you might have to change something as stated earlier. Calories in or upping exercise or maybe even both. I know I stayed at the EXACT weight for two weeks straight so I know how disheartening it can be. But I stayed with it because I knew I was doing the right thing and the scale finally moved.
Also do you take other measurements? My scale hadn't moved, but I had lost 1/2 inch on my waist and 1/2 on my thigh. Try that method also because sometimes the scale doesn't show improvement. Good luck!! :flowerforyou:0 -
I started on January 6 and am down from 196 lbs. I have done by cutting portions but not cutting anything out and by walking and cycling for exercise. I have been stuck for about 10 days. I usually hit my calorie goals or close to it 1300 a day ...if I go over I tend to exercise more. I joined FP about 5-6 weeks ago and it is making me very aware of the potential impact of food choices which is useful. I haven't taken measurements but I might try that0

With 36 lb. to go, set your goal no higher than 1 lb. per week. Log everything you eat & drink accurately & honestly. Weigh your food.

I am very honest about food and exercise so don't think its that . But why set the goal higher? I want to get to about 158 -160 lbs and I am trying to keep my expectations manageable so I don't fail. Maybe I just need to be patient but its still disheartening. Hey ho!0

The closer you get to goal, the more slowly you lose. That's just the way the human body works. Around the 25 lb. mark, weight loss slows to .5 lb. per week.

Edited to add that if you're not weighing your food then you are underestimating your calories.0 -
I'll read the link, thanks. I do weigh my food when its not a standard item and that has worked so far so think I'm probably pretty accurate. Plus my exercise is steadily rising. I see the point re upping the goal now so I'll think about that. Thanks again0

The smaller deficit will also help you transition to maintenance.0
