things that used to offend me now motivate me.

I was in the bus terminal a couple of weeks back waiting for my bus and I was eating chocolate covered raisins. A man sitting beside me, and talking on his cell phone, reached his hand out and gestured for me to give him one! After he was off his cell phone we began talking and he told me that I shouldn't eat too many or I would ruin my figure. I didn't eat anymore in the box after that!

The most important thing is that it motivates you and that's awesome girl! That being said, if some random stranger ever motioned for me to give them the food I was eating and they didn't look homeless or starving, I believe my response would be to flip them off!! lol ...and if he still made the same comment about ruining my figure, I believe I would smack my *kitten* as hard as I could in front of him as I walk off proud! lol

It wouldn't have offended me, but I would have made it a point to tell him it was NONE of his business what I ate.

I had a incident recently at the gym. I had my shirt off and still have a very good amount of excess skin on my body going from 320 to 150 lbs. A guy who was as my friends say a "douchmello" all bulk no definition and they look puffy said nice boobs. I turned to him and said "excuse me?" i looked him straight in the eyes and laughed in his face, he was why are you laughing? and I said " cause your weak and pathetic" then proceeded to break out my iphone with the photo of me you see on my profile. showed him the photo and said this used to be me 320 lbs and now i am 150lbs and 6% bf. He looked at me and was shocked " I said you think your better than me? well your not cause I am better than you" are you a triathlete? no? cause I'd like to see you ride 50 miles then do a 1.5 hr run right after you wouldn't last 10 miles. By you saying "nice boobs" shows me your mentally weak and don't have self confidence in yourself cause you have to make a childish comment like that to feel better about yourself. then I put my shirt on gave him a wink and said "Have a nice day" his expression was priceless.

I offered him some but he didn't take it. He was just trying to pick me up, and while telling me to watch my weight is a huge turn off in men, it motivated me to give up on my evil little chocolates.

Congrats on your hard work!! What a douchemello, when did insulting random people become at all appropriate.

i wasnt siding with him or anything on my post.

he definitely should have minded his own business and kept his mouth shut but it could have been worse! he could have insulted u and said you needed to lose weight rather than, watch out you could gain.
  • He was just flirting by telling her indirectly that she had a nice body. He was too much of a gentleman to tell her that she was a hottie and too much of a man to pass up a chance to tell her she was a hottie, so he did it indirectly. If she would have snapped, and asked, "What business is it to you?" She would have thrown a nice compliment in the guy's face, and possibly created an awkward situation that didn't need to happen. If you spend all day dieting, exercising, and looking good, don't be shocked when somebody pays you a compliment. It's a part of who we are as human beings. Lastly, the reason why this didn't offend her is because she knows the work that went into her body, and she can appreciate the compliment.

Wow!! I'm amazed you came up with all of that in a split second! Congrats to you! I'm proud!

Lol. I doubt he saw that. When I look in the mirror, I see a fat slob for some reason that nobody else can see. I have to use the scale to let my mind know that I'm at a healthy weight because my brain cannot interpret what my eyes see when determining my weight. Everybody else looks normal to me. When people tell me that I have a nice body or they wish they had a body like my body, I have to say, "Thank you" because I know I will never appreciate my body. If I snap at them or tell them that they're imagining that I have a nice body, then they'll think I'm crazy because even I know that as much running, lifting weights, and eating right that I've done has to equal a nice body; I just can't visualize it.

The extra weight that you see on your body may not be noticeable to the average person, and when they compliment you, it's a true heartfelt compliment.

If the guy honestly was picking up on her, then he needs to get some new game, lol. A "give me your food" gesture and an ambiguous comment about her figure that wasn't clear what he meant at all would still produce the same response out of me.

..and btw, I find it totally probable that this guy was picking up on her. He just was such a douche about the way he did it, lol.

He might have been picking up on her, but it seems to me that he would have made more of an effort than that. When I used to frequent the bars way back in the day, ladies would approach me, and ask for a light. I purchased a cigarette lighter just to light a woman's cigarette even though I didn't smoke, and that would usually break the ice. Maybe, just maybe this guy holding out his hand for some chocolate covered raisins was his way of breaking the ice. Nothing like chocolate to wander one's way into a pretty lady's heart. Lol. But if he was trying to hookup or something, why didn't he? I think he just wanted to compliment her.

This post is great because of the use of the word: douchmello, people try to pick folks up with odd backhanded compliments and people getting shut down at the gym. Thanks for a good read.

Really love douchmello. Tell your friend I said thanks!

And he was definitely trying to pick you up. Chocolate covered raisins really aren't the worst things you could eat and he was definitely trying to get some of your chocolate. So kudos to you for looking amazing.

She's not chocolate, she's vanilla! lol Just playin'
  • i had a guy do something similar. he told me i should lose all that weight because i had a pretty face, but the rest of me was "just a little too chunky". and after my ex-boyfriend used an ice cream line to dump me ("it's kind of like ice cream, you'll always have that one favorite flavor, but you want to try some new ones")...i decided that food was going to become to me nothing more that fuel for my body. Taste is a bonus, but not the core value of food, and in reality, most of the tasty stuff is tasty because we werent meant to eat it.
got a little off topic, but seriously girl, be proud of what you have and the amount of work it took to get it. :-)
and hey, even if its motivating, remember that treating yourself every once in a while isnt a sin either :-)
