Not losing weight - losing my motivation!

I started my 'diet' at the end of January as over Christmas and since changing job the pounds had crept on without me even realising. To begin with my method was simple, cut out all the crap. Its crazy how much 'bad' food I used to eat and drink without even realising it - grabbing a can of coke, a bag of crisps, nibbling on some chocolate here and there, it was all starting to affect my weight. I then started to control my calorie intake even further, cuting out the devil that is bread and having soup for lunch instead, dinner turned into salads and I stopped drinking alcohol altogether. I lost a stone and a half. The last couple of pounds were a nightmare to shift and I just cannot, no matter what I do, lose any more weight. I've started going to the gym again now as of the past 3 weeks or so, I spend hours in there and burn off 1000-1500 calories at a time, this is on top of my continued healthy eating and i still cant even shift one more pound. Is anyone else having this problem?! I only want to lose another 7lbs. A few people have told me that now Im at the gym i will start toning up and my fat will turn to muscle which obviously weighs more. Im hoping this is the case as Im starting to lose my motivation fast!!

Are you already at a healthy weight? If so, you might want to stop trying to lose weight and focus more on toning. Also, it might sounds counterintuitive, but consider eating more. If you're burning a lot of calories and cutting back too much, you might be sabotaging yourself.0

Yeah my BMI is in the healthy section, Im a size 10 in clothing and weigh bang on 10 stone so its not as if im stick thin and trying to lose weight that doesnt exist, my legs/thighs are still quite big so at the gym im working on toning these areas. Iv not lost any weight for a month now and im losing my 'stick with it' attitude. I will try eating more, healthy though obviously, thanks for the advice0

KPGx I am exactly the same as you. Size 10, weigh 10 stone and bigger on my bottom half. I struggle to get below 10 stone. I go to the gym 6 days a week and do lots of cardio focusing on using the elliptical, cross trainer, stepper on high resistance to try and slim down my thighs. Whatever I do at the gym makes no difference to what I look like and what weight I am. I eat 1,200 calories a day. I feel like it doesn't matter what I do!0

So nice to hear from someone whos in exactly the same position as me! Sometimes I wonder if my body just isnt designed to be any slimmer than this. My waist is tiny and my stomach is flat but I look out of proportion with these bloody massive legs, its really getting me down. I too spend lots of time on the stepper. I dont know what else to do!0

Are you logging your food?
Are you weighing portions, using measuring cups, or eyeballing your food?
Would you be comfortable opening your diary for us to help?
What kind of exercise are you doing?
Are you eating your earned exercise calories back?
If so, what method are you using to estimate them (heart rate monitor, gym machines, or MFP estimates)?0 -

No your body is not designed to be that size.
I always thought I would be a size 10 (Cad) ...esp at my goal weight....I currently weight 159lbs and wear a size 6 Cad. which puts me at a size 10 UK...
I lift weights...heavy weights and that has helped change the appearance of my body but if you are interested in scale weight...this is counter intuitive...
You will lose inches and fat but the scale eh...it might not move...
ETA: for perspective I was 135lbs in high school...at graduation...I put my prom dress on 1month ago (24 years after I graduated) and it fit great...and I weigh 25lbs more...0
