Most of my shopping is at Costco. This is a typical week:

    2-3 bunches of bananas
    mini carrots
    romaine lettuce 5PK
    beefsteak tomatoes 5#
    Greek Yogurt-plain 2 2packs
    Hillshire Farms turkey&ham 3-pack

chicken breast, pork loin, or ribeye/ NY strips (I alternate on these week-to-week so I always have all three on hand)

Zone Perfect bars, Premier Protein Crisp bars, Pure Protein bars (I alternate on these week-to-week so I always have all three on hand)

this stuff I buy every or every other week depending:
    eggs (1.5dozen)
    egg whites
    almond milk
    Activia Greek yogurt

    every two to three weeks:
President Feta crumbles (I just switched to the fat free... half the calories)
    Lite Jarlsberg singles

    as needed:
    tuna fish
assorted jams/ jellies- I like the Kirkland Northwest Raspberry Spread, the Wells Farms marionberry spread, and the Ed Smith strawberry rhubarb

Lately they've had a 4-pack of tofu for $3.99, and I've been getting that.

My 3 year old appears to be inclined towards vegetarianism at this point. So my list looks like this:
    ALL the fruit
some of the veggies that are in season
lean meat that is cheapest (chicken breasts, chicken thighs and pork lately)
    Fat free plain yogurt
butter (this and the thing above balance each other out in my mind  )
    Eggs...like an obscene amount
    Large carton of all whites
    Bagged lettuce
    Rotisserie chicken
a loaf of bread and a pack of english muffins
and HONEY. Can't live without it.
    Whole milk

    fresh herbs
    **WINE**
    COFFEE

    barley tea
    miso paste
    ground pork
lotus root, water spinach, etc. (seasonal)
    fresh whole fish
    tofu
    soy sauce, sesame oil, etc.

We live in a city, so we don't have the means to buy in bulk, except for our weekly hauls from Trader Joe's on the bus. We usually buy what we need from the crappy next door grocery store. We also buy fresh fish from our neighborhood fish markets, but they don't offer as many options as in Chinatown. :(

I always check producegeek.com to see what vegetables to buy that week, since I easily get bored with the same meal.
