Why do Men lose weight quicker than Women?

Options
My husband started on his diet a week after I did. And to this date he has lost 2 pounds more than I have!! While he has alot more to lose than I do...I work out 3 times per week - he does not work out and I make healthy dinners (which my husband eats). Why are men so lucky to lose weight faster than women??

Generally it's only at first, because they can create larger deficits. Also, men don't have as many water weight fluctuations issues as women, at least from what I see.

BTW, when you start to exercise you will retain water.. he isn't doing it so he isn't retaining water.

our bodies were programed to hold weight. We are baby factories and we hold on to fat for baby making.
Men will almost always lose faster than women.
Dont let your husbands losses discourage you.
I have a goal page in my workout log and each time I hit a mini goal I teart myself to something (a snack, a t-shirt, new shoes, whatever), use that to help you stay on track.

Yep. There are a lot of nuances, but a larger woman would likely lose weight faster as well.

Men generally have more lean body mass, which will burn more calories even at rest. Women naturally have higher percentages of fat, for reproductive reasons.

And, as someone else mentioned, if he had more to lose than you, his losses are going to be more drastic initially. This will likely slow down.

woman were generally made to sit around the house cooking, cleaning, doing laundry etc; so their metabolism adapted to this lack of moving around...

men on the other hand, were create to be hunters/gatherers, workers, etc; so our metabolism adapted to excessively moving around...

    science, you gotta love it...
