Hey everyone! :)
My name is Jess, I decided I would sign up for this to help me track everything a little better and get some great information. I recenetly decided to get into better shape and change my overall lifestyle.
I went to see a personal trainer yesterday for my consult (first session on wednesday!!) and i was SHOCKED to find out my body fat percent... 33.6! I have never considered myself obese but according to this doctors would tell me I am.
I have tried lots of times but always failed. I am read to really crunch down and take this seriously, make a permanent change for the better!
All of this is very confusing I find between the meals and the fitness (remember I am very new :)) so if any one has any tips for beginers that would be awesome!

First few days would be hard, but if you are really determined on changing YOU, then you can do it,
dont think about it as losing pounds, kilos or whatever, think about it as losing your oldself and being a new better person, a healthier one, if you reach that mentality nothing can stop you, I had this account here for years maybe but not till recently i actually started to lose weight, and because of similar story,
my blood pressure start to go up and my boss had a problem getting my a uniform T-shirt, these 2 factors made me think really hard of myself.
now 27 pounds lighter, I can feel that nothing can stop me from reaching my goal weight and my goal body shape.

feel free to add me too :)
  • feel free to add me....I've been here for a long time with a different name.....struggling with the last 10-12lb.....best of luck with your goals.....you can do it.....I used to be 172lb.....and in my profile pic I'm 130lb.....almost 44 years old and in the best shape of my life.....except maybe when I was 16!!!:)

I know what you mean about the BMI, I was shocked to find out I was considered Class II Obese. I didn't even know that it got worse than obese LOL. I just recently lost enough weight to be considered overweight. I've been so excited and telling everyone how happy I am to be overweight, even texted my hubby when I finally got my BMI down enough to be considered overweight. Most people don't know how to respond but you'll get there. If I can anyone can.

I've had a MFP account for a while but I just decided to become active here and I'm glad I did. Feel free to friend me.

    Good luck......you got this. :-)

Hey Jess! Females under age 39 range in 25-31% body fat. Good thing you are trying to tackle this now, rather than later. Good luck!!!

I'm in a very similar (but somewhat worse) situation as you are! I started working out 2 months ago and my trainer had took down my BF% info then. I didn't realise it was important so I never bothered to find out what it was - I was too focused on my weight. Today I looked at the record and found that in Feb my BF% was 41%!!!!!!! :explode:  I'm hoping that with these two months of working out, some of that has changed. I'll be going for measurements again this Fri, so fingers crossed.

(The reason why I was so shocked is because I am 5'1, 135 lbs, definitely look overweight but 'obese' wouldn't come to my mind...)

Add me if you want, let's keep each other motivated to get that % DOWN!!!
