It's hard for me to even eat 1200 calories. I wind up forcing 800 calories and I'm not hungry. I only lost 3 lbs. I'm trying but don't know what to do.

    eat more.
    stop eating diet foods.
maybe talk with someone about your relationship with food, cause right now... you're doing it wrong.

you're doing much more harm than good.

ETA: If you aren't actively weighing everything that you eat.. everything... logging it accurately, I'm also willing to bet you're not eating just 800 calories.

You aren't eating enough. You shouldn't be eating below your bmr (calculators online). If you keep eating low then you'll end up looking sick, you'll get sick, your hair will lose its colour and you'll barely be able to keep your eyes open and then your organs will start to shut down. I've been there and its not a nice place to be. Find some calories dense foods to eat such as peanut butter. Your body needs fuel and if you starve yourself it holds onto the fat.

How long did it take you to lose those 3lb. If it was a week then you aren't doing badly but you aren't eating enough. I am eating 1000, still not enough according to MFP hut I am under the doctor and losing in prep for surgery so Slightly different circumstances at present. How balanced is your diet? Are you eating enough protein? If you are struggling with eating enough, try eating higher calorie foods... use some oil in your stir fry... add nuts to a salad... switch from skimmed to semi-skimmed milk.

Thank you. I don't eat much meat so I just added a tablespoon of peanut butter to my meals to see if that changes anything.

I don't eat diet anything except diet gingerale on a rare occasion otherwise it's just water. 16oz water can last me 2 days. I know that's terrible and I'm working on it. I know about a balanced diet because I had gestational diabetes and controlled it through food throughout my pregnancy so I didn't use insulin pills or the needle. I try to eat a good mix of fruit, vegetables, carbs and protein. I don't eat much meat so I supplement with nuts or peanut butter. I have a busy/stressful job so I have to stop myself to not miss lunch but I'm usually not hungry. I'm trying to get up to the 1200 calories but with nutritional food not junk.

Add more calorie dense foods into your diet. Nuts, nut butters, seeds, olive oil, coconut oil, full fat dairy, Greek yogurt, cheese, ice cream, avocado, full calorie salad dressings, dark chocolate, fruit juices, protein shakes and smoothies. With some preplanning, it shouldn't he difficult to boost each meal by 100-200 calories.

Wait, did you just say that you only drink diet ginger ale and water, and 16oz of water can last you 2 days?

Unfortunately yes. I could probably drink less but when I get headaches it reminds me I have to drink more. I will even leave the bottle with the lid off next to me to make it easier and I'm not thirsty so when I think of it I try to gulp what I can down.

I'm surprised my kidneys have not shut down yet.
