I have this incessant need to need to workout all the time (morning and evening) and if i don't i feel like tomorrow i'm going to gain weight. Should i have a rest day where i literally don't do cardio or anything? And would i gain weight if i didn't workout?

I take two rest days per week (Sunday and Thursday) and occasionally I take a full week as was the case last week. The body needs time to recuperate.

I have two recovery days where I don't do anything and have been having steady weight loss. but I'm going to start walking those days just to do something. I feel like it's a waste of time not doing anything, so why not walk? but that is me. if you want to take a break by all means take a break.0

Of course it is OK to take a break from working out, and it is recommended.
Remember....it takes 3500 caloric surplus to gain a pound just like it takes that much of a deficit.
You should take breaks at times to let your body heal and repair. If you are scared of gaining weight then figure out what caloric intake you need to maintain and eat at or below that level while you rest from working out0 -
Yes, and I'd also recommend eating more than 800 calories in a day too.0

Ummmm...you don't need to workout multiple times per day every single day of the week. I'd suggest doing a bit of research on how your activity correlates to your calorie requirements, etc. You don't need to go ape **** crazy working out to lose weight; in fact, your weight loss is largely going to be attributable to your diet...exercise simply allows you to consume more while achieving the same goals and, well, it's really good for you when you aren't over training.
The only time I workout 2 or more times per day is when I'm actually training for something...and it is incredibly hard on the body which is why I have "seasons"...I don't train year around. My normal workouts are 5 days per week and usually around 45 - 60 minutes per session with 2 rest days per week. Even when I'm training I take rest days...that isn't taking a "break"...it is being responsible with your fitness and your body and allowing it to recover and repair the damage done when you exercise.
Also, eat more...you aren't doing yourself any favors at all workout the way you are with practically no energy (calories). By the looks of things, I think you may have a very un-healthy relationship with food and fitness.0 -
ah Yah..I take two or three a week it all depends on my mood.0

I am taking into account that maybe i may have a unhealthy mindset right now, but i didn't believe i was "starving" my body until i started tracking my kJ intake. I get really bad food guilt after eating and then i suppose "punish" myself by excessive working out. But i dont know how to take a break without feeling terrible anymore.0

I walk (6 days a week) and do weight lifting (5 days a week). Saturday I just walk and Sunday is my lazy day, I do absolutely nothing. :bigsmile:0

Nope, you won't gain weight by taking a rest day. In fact, I'd recommend it or else you'll wake up one morning and:

Yes, it's OK. I'm not going to make assumptions based on one forum post, but your approach to weight loss sounds psychologically unhealthy. You might want to take a step back and evaluate your approach to exercise and food, and get help if you need it.
The world will not end if you gain a few pounds. You can lose them again. It's normal for weight to fluctuate, and the amount of food you'd need to eat to gain even a pound of fat in one day is ridiculous.
Food and rest are good things, and your body needs both.0 -
You'll totally gain your weight back if you stop moving. Never sleep more than 6 hours a night for this reason. Oh, and I hope you jog to work. Car seats will cause your glutes to atrophy.0
