Stupid Bus

I cant drive, so I have to take the bus, and in my area the buses are so stupid and unreliable, they are always either 10 minutes late or a couple minutes earlier than wheen their supposed to go by my bus stop. Now I understand the being late because of traffic and all, but there is no reason why they should be earlier than the scheduled time. When they are a couple minutes early it makes me miss the bus. This has hapened many many tomes and although I have called the customer service number it seems to get me nowhere and they havent ever been able to answer my questions about why its early sometimes and then so late others. Today I was out at the bus stop 2 minutes earlier than the time it said in the book, and a bus that said not in service passed me and the actual bus never came. Wth?? So now Im thinking that was the actual bus they just didnt change the sign and passed me by for some reason.

Surely it would be better directing a complaint to the bus company instead of MFP?

True story- I was in a high speed bus chase. As in one bus chasing another bus.

I ride the stupid bus pretty frequently. I never thought to call it that, but now I'm going to use that saying all the time! I've punched myself in the chin during kickboxing, that was pretty stupid. Oh, not that stupid bus?
  • Maybe you should ride your mom. She is always on time and is free.

So you created an MFP account so you could rant about it?

    Makes sense.

Move to London, buses are scheduled every 10 mins. maybe even as frequently as every 7 mins on the most popular routes

although you wait for 40 mins then 4 turn up at once

and I used to ride on the old Routemasters where you can run after them and jump on the back

I was on a bus that crashed into a van which pulled out of a side road without looking. Like how the frickin heck can you manage not to see a bright red double decker bus? LOL

Another time I was on a bus and someone opened a car door right when the bus went past and the bus ripped the door right off. Luckily the person was still in their car.

I used to take a train and a bus to get to work and I was the first stop and first passenger on my route to get to work. Well one day a few buses were lined up taking a break before they started their runs and MY bus just drives right past me and leaves me. One of the other drivers saw and told me to hop onto his bus and we chased it through the city and caught it across the river where I was able to get on and get to work on time. It was really weird and nice that this random bus driver did that for me.

You obviously did not live in SF in the late 90's. I did. I arrived at the bus stop an hour or so early because the bus drivers would all go on break at the same time. There would be long stretches with no buses and then buses driving past you because they were all full from all the people waiting for buses, or there would be a few off them stopped on break. Bus schedule was meaningless. At least where I was in the city.

Why don't you just plan to always arrive 5 minutes early and if not deal with the 10 minute wait.

One time I was on a bus and some girl made a big scene with me, and then a Mormon saw that and used it to try and convert me, and then the electric bus derailed, and when we got off the bus a guy on the bus invited me to his art opening (because we looked at each other and laughed during my conversion). That's all I got.

With taking buses, you should always allow yourself to be there at least 10 mins earlier than it's scheduled to arrive. *kitten* happens, and sometimes buses are late or early, people driving the buses are human, not robots.

Oh are we doing bus stories?

One time I was on a bus with my boyfriend. It was late and dark, after both our restaurant shifts.

    Another guy looked at me.

My boyfriend scooted closer to me. He put his arm around me.

    The guy looked away.

    The end.

One time I didn't know how to open a bus door in the back, so I ran to the front and bumped into someone.

One time I was on a bus, it was New Years Eve, and I almost got puked on by a drunk homeless man. I escaped in time though.

The buses in Pittsburgh were notoriously sleezy and unreliable in the late 90s when i was in art school and from what all my friends say who ride them daily now it's gotten even worse and they expect more money out of you for less service. They seriously want to slash 30 percent of service whenever they don't get their way.

I love taking the bus! It is the only way to experience a wide variety of people in a small space. We have online bus tracking, so I just watch the bus on my computer, getting closer and closer to my street. Once it hits the corner, I hit the sidewalk running.
