I'm 6' and started MFP at 248.5 on 8/1/13, I'm in the mid-190's now and headed for a goal of 180. Green BMI is the goal. First time I've been under 200 since the 1990's.0

I'm 5'10 myself and I started at 325 on April 12, 2011. If you don't mind, can you share how long it took you to get to that weight, along with some work out regimines and eating habits?0 -

Seems like my journey now, even though I started MFP at 277 lbs. My current goal is 220 but i've gained a lot of confidence to gun for 200. However, I want to drop down to 190 and then build muscle to 200lbs now. Any tips on how you've dropped 60 lbs so quickly?0 -

A good weight for a 6' man is anywhere between 185-205. I use BMI as a generalized standard on where I should be, however, we all know that it is something that we shouldn't be worried about to the T. My weight from 2011-2013 floated from 268-295. I thought I was doing good wearing 2x shirts at 275lbs. Keep on pushing man, if you need tips to drop weight safely and consistently, please feel free to reach out.0 -

Really not that quick, it's been 2lbs/week or less I think. Keep updating your goal as you lose, it's easy to forget and if the system thinks you are heavier than you are you get more calories than you should from exercise (which sucks by the way). Expect plateaus, they are frustrating. Don't eat back all your calories, for me 50% seems to work. Trial and error.0 -

I started in May 2011. I lost the first 45 or so pounds by the end of November. I did low carb and didn't count calories.
I stalled in early 2012. I spent all of 2012 and almost half of 2013 low carbing, but pretty much maintaining. I'd go up, and down, either way about 10 lbs.
I recommitted to a more aggressive weight loss pursuit on June 10th, 2013. That's when I started intermittent fasting. I was 286 when I started.
I do not count calories, weigh food, or log anything.
I've lost about a 100lbs (or more) in the last 9.5 or so months.
Total time of active losing for about 130-135 lbs: Approximately 13.5 months
I allow myself to eat whatever I want, but my main, base diet consists primarily of vegetables, meats, oil/butter, fruit, and moderate amounts of dairy. That's the way I enjoy eating. Everything else is more of an occasional thing than a regular, consistent part of my diet. I have no food weakness or triggers, save certain sugary desserts.
I exercise during maintenance. I don't rely on exercise during weight loss because I prefer faster weight loss and relying on steeper deficits. I still exercise, I just don't do it routinely, and I don't count on it, when cutting fat.
When I get to a lower body fat level I will ascertain whether I want to bulk or just sustain.0 -

I eat three meals a day, I drink 110oz of water or more for 3 days, and taper off at the end of the week from 40-70oz per day. I drink tea to suppress my appetite before or after a meal. I use protein bars for snacks before the gym. I burn no less than 500 calories per workout. I have a cheat meal every weekend, sometimes two but its half a serving. It keeps me sane and I feel like it can be a regular eating pattern when I hit maintenance mode. I park far away from stores, I take the stairs, I invest in comfortable shoes for walking. I research tips on MFP and constantly log in here to the Success Story forum to keep up my motivation. The key is to program yourself and build confidence that yes, you can be the new person you want to be. After cutting 31 lbs on MFP, I can already see that getting to my goal is achievable, but also more motivation to get into the best shape of my life once I reach it.
Hope this helps!!0 -
5'11".. I started at 256 in 10/2013. Had a break in 12/2013 due ti vacations. Back on track since 01/2014 and currently at 236.5. Goal is to go atleast below 1900
-
I'm 6' 1" peaked at 118 kg (260 lbs) got down to 97 kg (212lbs) in 2012, slowly let my weight creep back up to a maximum of 112kg (246 lbs) in December 2013. Back on the wagon again and using MFP to make a lifestyle change and learn a degree of portion control. Would like to get to 85 kg (187 lbs) a weight I don't think I've been at since I was a teen, but will settle for 90kg and being able to learn to surf.....0

What do you typically eat? What are your workouts like? Do you run, use elliptical, play sports? How many cheat meals do you have a week, if any?0 -

Yes! I was 269 in late 2011 and when I met my girlfriend 6 months later, I gained 25 lbs back by late 2013. What saved me was logging my food. I've been documenting what I eat since early 2012. Not noticing my portions were getting bigger, even though I wasn't eating "bad". I stopped working out as much and I had more cheat meals throughout the week. I've since cut 50lbs (only 31 of that documented on MFP ticker) in the past 5 months. One thing you can take away from that gain is how your body responds to food. You know how to lose and gain, and you know what it kind of consistency in your lifestyle it takes to get to your goal. Congrats on your 20lb loss. You will be at your goal before you know it.0 -
6' 0" here... Heaviest was ~ 250 lbs. sometime last year (2013). 44 y/o "weekend warrior" trying to keep up with younger guys, but no real plan of attack and always fighting soreness or overuse injuries.
I started MFP 28 days ago and am now 213 lbs. My goal is 195 lbs. - but there is no specific time table... if / when I accomplish this then will reevaluate.
In my case, the nutritional information & counting my caloric intake has been a real eye opener.
P.S. - feel free to friend request!!0 -

213 on a 6'0 frame looks thin, atleast to me. What size shirts do you wear? I'm curious because i'm a similar height. At 246, I'm a 38 inch waist, XL shirts.0 -
My profile has a pic of me at 6'1" 2040

I'm 5'11" and weigh about 230. My goal is to get down to 205 lbs. I was in between 200 and 205 about 3 years ago and felt like I was in pretty good shape. I will be getting my body fat % checked soon and I think I will have a better idea of my goals at that point. I don't like going by BMI, since at 205 I still would have had to lose another 20 lbs.
I ran quite a bit when I got down to that weight before and watched what I ate by trying to eat balanced meals. Right now, I am doing a six week program I got out of a Men's Fitness magazine and seem to be making some decent progress. I am also using MFP to log food and Endomondo to log exercise. I wish I would have taken measurements besides weight and taken some pictures before starting the program so I could be sure of my results.0 -

BMI only works if you are really obese and you want to get into a healthier range. When you are our height and 200 lbs, that is not fat at all. Simply lifting weights and moving your body will keep you from getting pudgy. 180 would be good for a marathon runner but for a guy who likes to be somewhat bigger and more filled out looking, 200-210 is the best look. Thanks for your input0
