help with polar ft 4

Hey all,

My polar ft 4 is not picking up my heart rate, I've put new batteries in so it's not that! Any ideas please on how to fix it or do I need to buy a new one?

    Have you washed the strap? Also position is important. I found as I've lost weight the optimum position has changed as my body shape has. You sometimes need to play with it a little.

    Do you have it positioned properly - centered just under your boobs with the Polar logo upright, and did you wet your chest and the conductive parts of the strap?

    If you have those parts right and it still doesn't work I'd exchange it. The problem could still be batteries in the transmitter or receiver, but why pay for batteries that may or may not fix the problem?

    I've tried everything, it was working fine then just suddenly stopped picking it up,

    How long have you had it? I had mine for over a year, (changed batteries, cleaned it and so forth), before i bought a new chest strap / transmitter.

    It Will be coming up to a year so maybe need new transmitter then, thank u.

    I had mine for 4 years and it recently starting giving me false readings. It said my resting heart rate was 185, which I know isn't right. After a week of tinkering with it, I just gave up and bought a Polar FT7. Should be here any day and I can't wait to use it!
