So, I've finally come to terms with my problem. I've been able to quit smoking (four months), havent had a drink (in over a month), I've been successful at these things....but PEANUT BUTTER!! I can't quit you!!
Lol seriously. My mouth doesn't water for anything, I dont crave anything - I can live without almost anything...BUT PEANUT BUTTER!
I've found it's beyond my control to stop at one spoonful. Something so calorie dense and hard to stay within serving size - I'm breaking up with peanut butter. I have decided that it's what's best for my diet. lol I know that from a nutritional standpoint, peanut butter is good for you- but like anything else: in moderation. There is no moderation when it comes down to a spoon in my left hand and a jar of PB in my right. Haha anybody else have this problem? I'm giving myself a personal challange to see how long I can go without PB. I can only hope to last a week.
Willpower.... not when it comes to nut butter. haha

I hear ya! My favourite snack was carrot and celery sticks with peanut butter. Sounds healthy, right? Well, I started out with the recommended 2 tbs / 32g of peanut butter for the snack. Then a few months ago I weighed my spoonful of peanut butter again - much closer to 64g ... and hence nearly 400 calories just in a spoonful of peanut butter. And sometimes I'd go back into the jar and smooth out the top (can't have an uneven surface!).
It was then I decided to not have this as a snack any more. I will use peanut butter in baking - healthy granola bars, protein bars, etc - and be quite happy having one of them as a snack. But any time I just get a spoon and say I'll just have a serving of it, I know I'll be back in the jar for more ... and more!0 -
I buy a case of pb singles. Like the ones you see at restaurants sometimes, they are 3/4 of an oz. so no guessing on serving size. I also like pb2 chocolate. Both a little more expensive but help my addiction. I can't have a jar in the house or ill take a spoon to it0

Seriously??? On National Peanut Butter and Jelly day! I have learned to eat my pb in moderation. A day without that delicious/protein packed fabulous wonder on a spoon - is like a day without sunshine.0

If I gave up on my peanut butter, I would need to give up on my lunch staple. PB&J. I make that for nearly EVERY lunch every work day of the week. (I didn't today)0

While I appreciate your idea, I would not like to remain anonymous.
Edit: OP, if we were friends, I would unfriend you due to blasphemy.
haha oh lord - obviously if peanut butter is my biggest vice, then I'm doing pretty good. I personally have to remove the temptation for the time being so that it doesn't interfere with my weightloss progress. Because, well - clearly I'm a sucker for PB. I definitely need to invest in those prepackaged serving cups, yo. Then I can have my peanut butter and eat it too! Haha0 -
I'm the same way. I've started only buying PB once a month. So I can binge eat it for a few days, and then it's gone.0

Self-confessed addict. Anything with chocolate and pb and I'm a gonner.
Went for dinner one night...planned to be healthy (even trying to log my meal). Then they came over with the desserts specials...peanut butter brownie cheesecake. Tasted like heaven. Didn't even care it was probably 500-600kcals.
All you UK folk, try the peanut butter from myprotein.com. All natural, nothing added, just 100% peanuts. You will never look back.0 -
Peanut Butter-aholic over here! No shame in my game. I will take a spoon to the jar and eat that for dessert! Put it on bananas, rice cakes, celery, apples and but its always good on a spoon. I would never be able to give it up.0

I've done it, gone cold turkey on PB. It still pains me, I still want it. But I decided I must give it up after I read that scientists use peanut butter to cause clogged arteries in lab rats. :frown:0

This is awesome! Good for you! I love me some PB too much to even consider saying goodbye!
Once I tried to give up PB, so I bought some Peanut Butter flavored Puffins cereal to try and fill the gap.
I would open the pantry and grab a handful every once in awhile.. I bought the cereal on a Friday evening and then by Saturday afternoon I went for a handful and the box was empty!! Yup, 1 box of cereal in less than 24 hours.. OOPS!
Good luck to you! Know that I'm jealous!! If I cut PB out from my Diet I would probably look like a supermodel!0 -

just the brand of PB..fifty 50...just peanuts and oil/salt..but doesn't have to be kept in the fridge like some of the other natural ones...I can eat me some PB2 also....BAD addictions..right of the jar:)0 -
Oh man, I could not quit the peanut butter. I have a small spoonful for dessert most nights. Soooo delicious.0

I never could and never will give up peanut butter. Some things in life are just to important.0

I love me some peanut butter, and so do my dogs! I use PB2 during the week and will occasionally have real peanut butter on the weekends. I measure it out and make sure I have room for it. I'd consider myself recovered from my peanut butter addiction but it still lingers on.... now Nutella, that is a different story. I DO NOT allow that in my house!!! Too tempting!0

I can't quit, and I won't quit.
It's too damn delicious!0 -
OMG I love peanut butter too... My favorite is the trader joe's unsalted creamy. YUMM! I have replaced this type of peanut butter with PB2... which I use in shakes and oatmeal. I also love to mix a tsp of PB2 with a tablespoon of cool whip and dip strawberries into it!0

Yes pb2! It's my favorite invention!0 -
I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER! Before I started losing weight I could seriously eat an entire jar by myself. Since then I only eat a Tbsp or two of it when I'm needing to reach my calorie goal for the day. With all the food I eat in a day it's hard to eat anything but small portions of a higher calorie since I've shrunk my portions. My tummy just can't hold that much anymore lol. A Tbsp of peanut butter is the metaphorical "icing on the cake" for me.0

I took the plunge and bought a jar of PB2 yesterday! Last night I mixed 2 tbs with 1 cup of low fat vanilla greek yogurt and sliced a banana in to the mix. It works!! Nice low calorie alternative that offers up that super-happy flavor of peanutbutta!! Good call guys I feel like I've been saved!! haha0
