I need help with my scale?

I'm getting so extremely discouraged, the scale I use to weigh myself goes up to 440lbs and its like a taylor lithium one or whatever and its digital. I started my weight loss journey by weighing myself in the bathroom and that's where ive been weighing myself every Saturday well I brought the scale into the kitchen the other day where its tile floors ( the floor in the bathroom is laminate btw) well I had did a sneak peek the other day on Monday and it showed I lost 3 lbs and today I brought the scale in the kitchen and it says im at the same weight as my last weigh in except a few ounces lower so now I feel like I havent lost any weight and I don't know where I should weigh myself now, what spot do I stick to? I feel ike if im going my where it says the lower amount im just cheating. I just wanna cry because I feel like ive come to a stand still now. I had started exercising last week and was hoping to see a big number but people on here said I could have only lost 1lbs cuz my body was retaining water from working out for the first time so I just shok it off and like 2 days later was when I did the sneak peek and saw I lost 3 lbs so I thought yeah maybe I was just retaining water but now I weighed agan and the kitchen floor shows the scale at 3 lbs higher then the bathroom I mean I did workout again but even after the bathroom scale says I lost 3-4 lbs and the kitchen one doesn't it shows im the same I mean they are the same scale im just weighing myself in 2 different spots and don't know where I should continue weighing myself?

You're worrying too much. The only thing that matters in the long-term trend over weeks and months.

The body fluctuates a lot every day. You can do nothing wrong and gain 3 pounds overnight due to water retained. People think weight loss is linear, but it isn't--it fluctuates with a general trend downward if you're doing it right.

Some people say to only weigh themselves once a week so the fluctuations don't make you crazy. I don't like that though, because if you happen to be heavier than the week before it can feel like a wasted week (though it isn't)

I like to weight every morning. It gets me used to the fluctuations, and gives perspective during "plateau's."

When weighing yourself, be sure to weigh yourself in the morning, and after you've used the washroom (and certainly before you've had breakfast). The body changes a lot during the day too.

    Good luck!

Consistency is key with those damn scales. I weigh mine in the exact same spot. I am naked. and I already went to the bathroom. Very ritualish because the slightest thing can alter you.

Just stick to weighting one way and go off that number!

Keep it up, it will come down :)

take a look at this link. It talks about how to properly weigh yourself and some things that make a scale fluctuate.

We know that consistancy is the best, but until I read this I didnt really know about how temperature and type of floor comes into play.

Just last weekend in my cold bathroom first thing in the AM it said I lost just 1 pound. Then I remembered this, turned on the heat and waited a half hour and it switched to losing 2.6 pounds as temperature of the floor can skew it. (cold=bad)

weigh yourself in the same spot whether you do it daily, weekly or monthly.. i have been weighing weekly in the am after going to the bathroom and before eating anything. i also will wait a couple of hours after getting up so i can hopefully get rid of any water retention i may have from the night before...

    good luck my friend

In the big picture those couple of pounds are what matters.

Weigh in the same spot (for me it's the bedroom - wood floors)
Wearing the same amount or lack of clothes (I weigh in a t-shirt and panties since that is what I sleep in)
and at about the same time (after I wake up and use the restroom)

This way you have a consistent number to track with. It seems people get so worried about which scale (home, gym, doctor) and stuff that their tracking is all out of whack. Until you are really close to goal - a pound or three difference in where the scale sits isn't what is going to matter - It's going to be how you feel, how you look and that you see a number tracking downward.

Weight loss isn't linear - if you chart it its going to look like a crazy stair step (ups and downs). Just track the best you can and be as consistent as possible.

Don't get discouraged and don't give up!! As the other posters have said, make sure you are consistent. Don't move your scale. Always weigh at the same time of day under the same conditions. Wear the same thing every time or weigh naked. I keep my scale in the bathroom and haven't moved it, except to mop or sweep, in 19 months. I weigh myself first thing in the morning, after going to the bathroom, naked. I weigh every day. I have gotten used to the daily fluctuations over time but as you continue to log, you should see a downward trend. That is what you're looking for. This may take weeks or months, any you may have to tweak your methods to keep things moving in the right direction, but you can definitely do this. If I can, anyone can!! Also, depending on your scale, you may have to reset it each time you move it by tapping for accuracy. Good luck as you move forward!!

Please don't get discouraged! The scale won't always give us the results we want, but it will over time. Even if you don't lose any weight, think of the good habits you're developing. You can do this!

I would suggest keeping it in the same spot and weigh yourself at the same time each time you do. For me, it's first thing in the morning, nothing on. As for why your scale is crazy? Who knows!
As for getting discouraged - please don't! It is a journey and in the grand scheme of things, when you reach your goal, those 3 pounds won't matter. Just weigh weekly and you will see progress!
