How much to report?

Hi!
I'm using this app to maintain weight and make sure i'm eating proper meals, but also to see how much i burn when exercising.
I report most of my exercise, such as going to the gym, though I know the machines there can over-estimate calories burned so I tend to under-report it slightly. However, I do do other exercise on top such as cycling there and back and to uni. That can add up to 4/5 miles a day over 4 small instances. Do other people report other exercise such as this or kinda take it in their stride? My reported activity level is only sedentary at the moment too.
Thanks!

You're not sedentary, you should change it to active, or at least lightly active. Then your commutes would be accounted for.
Either that or log every little thing you do that's not sitting on your butt. But it's easier to say your normal lifestyle is active than to bother logging every move you make..0 -
I don't report 'incidental' exercise. I classify incidental as walking to the bus, chasing kids around, walking to the playground - stuff like that, where my goal wasn't exercise.
For me, bike riding for 10 minutes or so I wouldn't even get up a sweat. I wouldn't log it. Of course, if you're 300 pounds that 10 minutes of exercise is pretty significant, but for the majority of people, I would classify it as insignificant.0 -

+10, if you're riding your bike 4/5 miles a day you're hardly sedentary even if every other second of the day you're sitting on your rump. Reset your activity level.0 -
Yeah I get that! For example I live on the second story so run up and down two flights of stairs god knows how many times a day. The ten minutes can make my heart get going and make me a bit hot (especially if i'm in a coat and wearing a backpack) so I think it's worth upping my activity but not necessarily counting everything as you say, thank you0

I walk my dog most every day and chose not to report it unless it's over 3 miles. I figure it's a part of my daily routine so I don't count it as exercise. I only log intentional exercise - running, aerobics classes at the gym, or weight lifting. So it's a personal choice and up to you. Good luck!0
