Aha moment?

Well I was at the gym today. Nothing new, except as I was getting ready to leave, I ran into an old friend/aquaintence who stopped me and said,"Mandi, because of you I ran a 5k, lost 50 pounds and got into shape". My jaw just dropped and I said. Um, how the heck did I do that. Apparently once upon a time, I wrote a facebook status that said that I was going to run a C25K and get into shape for the new year. Sadly, it only motivated him. HE took the bull by the horn and did what I said I was going to do. He's 50 pounds lighter and can run a 5K. I'm 4 pounds lighter and can run for a minute and a half without stopping. That's a particular sad statement. Aha moment perhaps? Maybe it's just the push I need to keep pushing ahead for 2011. You never know the impact you have on a person! Keep making those small changes! They are all worth it!

Tomorrow is a new day. If your friend could do it, you CAN do it! Baby steps! Small goals are much easier to reach and will give you more strength than you know. For example, my first goal was to be able to run for 2 1/2 minutes without stopping. Then I upped it to 5 minutes. Then 7, then 10, etc. Once you get into the swing of accomplishing these goals, your big goals are easier to reach. Those baby steps add up! It does wonders to your confidence.

You can do it. My first goal was just to give Couch to 5K a good effort. I ended up liking it, sticking with it, and running a half marathon just over a year later... you can do it!

Sounds like you have a positive outlook! It's cool that you inspired your friend and hopefully yourself in the process :)

To me that is such a blessing to learn how your life affected another person's life in such a positive manner! Hope you feel blessed as well. How special that information was shared with you! Kudos to you for your efforts and the fact that you so genuinely influenced another person to improve their life!

It definitely was a great feeling. I'm motivated to keep at it, no matter how long the process takes!
