Exercising with an injury

Hello,
I picked up a groin strain for the first time on Monday during exercise. I'm not exactly sure how long it's going to take to heal but I don't like the thought of not exercising until it's better. Can anyone suggest exercises or things I can do to tide me over?
It's a bit painful to walk when I angle my leg in certain ways, so I'm not sure if I should be aggravating it by going on a long walk and I know my high impact stuff is definitely out (I normally do Les Mills Body Attack, Les Mills Body Combat, Metafit and 2 circuits classes a week). I'm training for a 20mile charity walk in June so I definitely don't want to risk damaging it further.
Any suggestions, or should I just rest completely until it's better and start introducing the walking again?
Thanks very much.

Hi,
the best person to ask is your Dr. However, I work from the place that says "if it hurts don't do it". I hurt my shoulder a while back, initially it hurt, got a cortisone shot and felt good. Hurt it the beginning of vacation, but continued to do everything on vacation (waterpark, swimming with kid, etc) and I couldn't move my arm at all by the time we got back. It took a year to be back to myself. So I recommend caution when making the decision to exercise.
You can continue to do upper body work for sure. Maybe you can do a bicycle? I don't know if that would work, but definitely ask your Dr. Sports medicine Doctors tend to very reasonable and helpful to get you back on track rather than be say "just rest".

Thanks for that. Cycling definitely out - that is one of the movements that's causing pain. I'm just going to be sensible and rest until my body tells me it's better. Once that happens, I'll start with walking again and gradually work back up to normal.
Thanks for the reply!0
