Slipped back to bad habbits and keep saying 'this week is a new week' and it never happens! How do I get my will power back and get back into the rhythm of exercise and weight loss!? (Though the gym I just joined will help with the exercise part)

You really have to want it. It might be helpful to look at what changes you made that you find most difficult and try something else.
Are you cutting calories too low? If so, maybe try for a slower rate of loss.
Cutting out a favorite food? Try making room for a small portion now and then.0 -
Why do you want to lose the weight? I find having a good solid goal/reason helps me stay motivated. Could be just getting into exercise will help you too. (Although heads up, sometimes that makes people hungrier so do make sure you keep up with the food logging or you may end up eating more than you realize.) I've found in the past that if I focus a bit more on fitness, the rest of it falls into line.
Also, maybe think about why it's not working for you, as suggested above. Maybe your expectations are too high? Maybe your daily calorie goal is too low? Maybe you need to eat a bit more protein and healthy fats (tend to keep us full longer)? Planning meals can help avoid temptations. Planning indulgences can also help.0 -
I want to loose weight, because I want to get back to my pre-mummy body but most of all I'm getting married in 26th July and need to fit into my wedding dress better.. Thank you for your comments, I feel like I know more of what I need to do to go where I want to get just need to work on my will power as I'm an emotional eater0

I know for me, part of the problem is that when I'm tired or stressed out, I just come home and sit on the couch and snack. In the past, it's helped me just to get out of the house, go for a walk, go shopping or go read in a coffee shop, whatever to get away from the temptation. But it's rough, I had a bad day yesterday, came home and snacked a ton, mad at myself, but went to the gym today, trying my best. Just keep trying. Get your fiance on board, he can support you maybe.0

I read an excellent quote yesterday that another MFP member posted - it's great advice to help with emotional eating! If you feel hungry, consider if an apple or celery or something else "healthy" would satisfy it. If so, it's hunger. If nothing will do but chocolate/ice cream/candy/chips/etc then you're bored/eating your emotions/etc and need to figure out what's bothering you and deal with that instead of eating.0

Thanks for adding this quote Minnie, and thanks to whoever wrote it in the first place. It's very encouraging and truthful. I'm an emotional eater as well, and for me, I make myself stay out of the kitchen for 30 min after I crave something. If I still crave it after 30, I let myself have a taste, or a chip, or whatever. Then it's another 30 minutes. Eventually I forget about it all together, or it's time to go to bed.
I stopped being motivated a couple of times, and the thing that has helped me is going window shopping. Walking around, and looking at all of the cute new clothes that I'll be able to wear when I get to my goal weight is really encouraging, and hey, you're walking, so that helps as well. Every time I went to the grocery store and didn't buy chips/chocolate/etc. when I wanted to, I put a dollar or two in a jar for my new clothes. It's rewarding to see the pile build, and I have over $200 to spend on my new wardrobe!0 -
Thank you everyone for your advice, I'm going to take it all on board and work out the best way for me; motivation is back up as I lost 1lb since last week and I really enjoyed my first session at the gym last night Hopefully success will continue0
