How long do you wait to weigh yourself after your period ends. I definitely get bloated. I don't weigh everyday and I am sure I am retaining water so when do you weigh?

    I've definitely noticed a pattern that follows my cycle. Basically, for 2 weeks every month, my weight either won't budge or I'll gain 2 pounds. 3-4 days after my period starts, I'll be down 4-5 pounds. I'll weigh myself at the 4 days after my period starts and that will be my weight for the month. Like when people ask how much I've lost, that's the number I'll use. I was driving myself nuts for a while, weighing myself daily and obsessing on why my weight was fluctuating SO much.

    I usually wait until after the period is over - like a day or so afterwards - and then weigh myself. To do it beforehand is both frustrating and misleading because it can mean a difference of 3-4 pounds of water weight.

    I always wait a couple of days. During my period, I put on 3-4 pounds of water weight, but it all goes away a couple of days afterwards.

    Like capergrrl said... a few days after it starts. I level out before it ends. I typically gain a couple of pounds in the week and a half to two weeks leading up to it.

    I wonder if weighing everyday for a couple of months, and realizing the purpose of it, would help to figure out a trend of when the water weight starts coming on and when is typically gone.... Figuring out your body's pattern might help allay any of those pre-menstrual "OMG I'm so fat" feelings that I know I personally experience before I realize what time in the month it is...

    That is a good idea. I did actually weigh myself the day before I got it and I was actually at my lowest I have been in years. I didn't know it was coming because I wasnt tracking it though. So maybe next mnth I will and will weigh everyday during it to see how my body retains the water. Thanks

    I usually wait 2-3 days. And I don't weigh myself 2-3 days before either because I bloat more in the beginning then the end.

    A lot of it will depened on your cycle. Every woman is different.

    I actually notice that it's not the actual week of my cycle where I weigh more it's prior to that (ovulation) but it doesn't matter to me actually I record my weight once a week.

    If I am up 1lb and I know it's close to my time it's not a true gain so I don't record it...esp since the next week it's gone plus another 3/4lb - 1lb...so instead of recording a 2lb weight loss which I know wasn't actual weight I just have to record the "true" weight loss.
  • I dare NOT weigh in the week before or the week after. So my time table to weight in for the month is very limited.

    I weigh myself every day. I'm also tracking my exercise and logging food, so if the scale does go up, I can look at my data and figure out where the weight fluctuation is coming from. I know I'm not eating enough for it to be a true gain, so I don't stress about it.

    I weigh almost every day, so if the scale goes up I see it and I also know I didn't eat 3,500 calories since breakfast for it to be true weight gain.

    I am on my last day and I weighed and I am down 1.1lbs. Next month I will weight the whole time during my period to see how it fluctuates. Thanks, Ladies.
