    just get the coals going and get it hot and then use a heavy wire grilling brush to scrape the grilling grate(s) of any debris. I recommend a charcoal chimney for getting your coals going.

    As others have said wire brush and fire is all you need.

    Foil completely negates the purpose of grilling.
