I have been using FitDay since May31st (and had good results) but started using myfitnesspal today and really like it, so I am going to switch. The iphone app drew me in, but I am finding the food database far superior to FitDay.
About me:
I am a 44 year old guy that has been fat all of his life except for a short period of time in my 20's. I have been counting calories and working out 5 times a week since May 31st, which resulted in dropping 100 pounds. I am down to 250 lbs now and am working towards a target weight of 185 or so, but the real goal is now more of a fitness goal. I did my first 5k two weeks ago and did better than I thought I would (35 min and 4 seconds). Now I am targeting the Peachtree Road Race (10k) in Atlanta on July 4th and a Sprint triathlon in the fall.
I would never have made it this far if I had not convinced myself to count calories for 4 weeks as an experiment to see if I could make "a diet" stick. Once I started writing it down, I slowly started changing my eating habits which was the key. After a few weeks, I added exercise and saw the benefit in the math (calories in versus calories out) which was quickly followed by the results I saw on my body. For me, the weight loss really took off when I increased the amount of complex carbs in my diet, in an effort to increase the fiber in my diet, instead of trying to restrict carbs altogether.
That's my last 6 months in a nutshell. Looking forward to using this new tool and hearing about the success stories of others.

Hey 60Hz Shuffle,
Welcome to MFP. I agree this seems like a great site. I signed up last week and I was very interested in your post. I was reading your post and I felt you were talking about me. I am 39 ( not 44) but I have been heavy (yes fat) all my life. Last week I weighed 367 and I am very committed to a real lifestyle change. I am also working out 5 or 6 times a week. I would really appreicate it if you would share your workout routine and and what your calorie intake was. Your success is really encouraging keep up the good work and again welcome to MFP0 -
Thanks for the warm welcome you guys.
