Hi everyone

I have done mfp before but not sure why it didn't work I'm a ww addict and have done it for many years but really want a change and want to go low carb so this would be better for tracking that, ok so tried this before as I said I think I was allowing myself 1600 calories a day and eating my exercise calories back also,

I'm 5ft 8.5"
11st 10lb
I work out 4 times a week I know have a HRM so tracking exercise will be more accurate.

The only negative I have about using my fitness pal as too ww is I liked that no weighing measuring veg and salad which I eat a lot fruit I know has lots of sugars so I don't mind tracking that accurately but was thinking maybe eating 200 calories less and just not weigh or measure salad and veg I won't eat it by the bucket load but just a normal portion, my second thing is on ww you get a extra weekly allowance I use this for my vodka on weekend with diet cola could I maybe save all exercise calories up for this or 100 a day towards it? Any advise would be greatly appreciated I'm unsure which is best way to go in terms of calories if to do bmr or tdee?????

Thanks x

    Hi there,

I did WW a few years ago, and I have to say I like MFP more. There's a ton of great info on these boards about nutrition, exercise, and how to keep motivated. I'm doing the TDEE-20% method, which works nicely for me. I just Googled "scooby TDEE" and found a great calculator.

Now, as to vodka, I totally understand. My weekends I get a bit lax. I love going out for a nice late lunch and a few beers with my husband. I just try to be slightly under (like 100-200 calories) during the week, and go for a super long walk on weekends (on top of my usual exercises). Just figure out how to budget your vodka calories in! Either do a bit extra of cardio, or make your portions a bit smaller on days you're going to drink.

    Good luck!

If you have done WW, there isn't any reason you can't transition to MFP. Plan you vodka into your calories limit. I transitioned from WW to MFP and don't have any problems.

Thanks everyone and do you think it's ok to eat 200 calories less but not weigh or measure my salad and veg? X

veggies are one thing...but they can add up eventually...but your fruit most definately.

As for the "extras" from WW for your weekends MFP allows for that too...it's called exercise calories...

When I used the NEAT method I would often work my exercise around what treat I wanted...20min walk around the block = 2 vodka shots....:drinker: since I mix it with club soda and calorie free water flavor...

I did WW too about 4 years ago (MFP is actually better, though) and as I recall, I still had to measure my intake of everything. Certain foods were "0" points but they were certain portions and were supposed to be kept to 5 or under portions/day.

Honestly, I measure everything like the rotation of the earth around the sun depends upon it. That's the only way for me to make my program work. It's also the only way you can be sure that your macros are correct, including the carbs which you state you want to decrease.

I don't see why you can't have vodka if you fit it into your macros.
